Zambia Women’s national team midfielder Mary Mwakapila has apologized for her behavior during Green Buffaloes clash with Indeni Roses in the FAZ National Women’s Championship, a match which saw her getting sent off.
The diminutive midfield genius was sent off minutes before half time after getting into a brawl with Indeni Roses defender Nyais Moga.
In a statement availed to the ZamFoot Crew, Mwakapila said she felt very bad about want transpired and offered an apology to Indeni Roses, A club she once represented and the player she had a scuffle with, Moga.
Mwakapila scored a brilliant strike before being sent off by the referee, Austeria Nkole.
“To the fans and all my fellow football-loving Zambians, I wish to take this opportunity to pass an apology for my unsportsmanlike behavior which I showed in today’s game.
I’m here to say I am sorry for that and didn’t mean to do that and if I could take it back at the right moment I would.
I am deeply sorry and I feel so broken about it, keep praying for me and my God-given talent. I want to make it clear that it was not deliberately but it was a ‘moment of madness’ I did pass an apology to my former team Indeni and to the victim. I Love you all and I promise not to do much anymore.”
Green Buffaloes went on to win the match 3-1 on post-match penalties and Mwakapila will have to watch the final against Queens Academy from the terraces, Tomorrow at 15:00hrs at Nkoloma Stadium.
