After a disappointing display from the bankers, Sensational Zanaco on Saturday which led to fans asking for the head of Chris Kaunda when they were thrashed 3-0 at the hands of Lusaka Dynamos, Kaunda made two changes to the side that lost to Lusaka Dynamos, bringing in Rodger Kola and Ernest Mbewe for Albert Kangwanda and Evans Katema with the changes paying dividends.
Zanaco was in no joking mood playing at home to visiting Green Eagles of Kafue town who lived up to their name of being young as they were put the sword six times by the Bankers.
Rodger Kola opened the flood gates in the 7th minute before Baba Basile added a second in the 31st minute with another goal from Kola coming in 34th minute before completing his hat-trick eight minutes later for the game to finish four-nil in the first half.
It was a half in which Zanaco dominated play with Young Green Eagles made to play in their half. As if they were not satisfied with the first half display, Zanaco came with fire and continued where they left off as they added a fifth goal in the 76th minutes through Moses Phiri before young Green Eagles pulled one back, scoring only their second goal in the division through Greenwell Witika. Second-half substitute Albert Kangwanda completed the rout in the 82nd from a tight angle for the proceedings to end 6-1 in favor of the bankers. The result pushes the bankers from 9th position to 1st position on eleven points with a four-goal difference against Zesco united who are on level points with them while young Green Eagles who have only scored two goals so far in the Super League remain stuck on 16th position with four points from seven games they have played.
At Garden Park in the Buchi compound of kitwe, it was a crunch affair involving Kitwe United and Zesco united. After a mixed start to the season, Zesco made a short trip to Kitwe to redeem themselves following a one-all draw against Buffaloes in a match where they played second best. Numba Mumamba made two changes to the side that drew with Green Buffaloes at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday he dropped Jesse Were and Samuel Sikaonga to the bench for Donashano Malama and Edward Tembo with Fackson Kapumbu playing a second match this season. Zesco united dominated with crispy passing football and living to its name of having blunt striking force this season with Winston Kalengo missing a seater in 29th minute with only the keeper to beat with Kitwe united having nothing much to offer as a threat to Otieno in the first half ended in a barren draw. In the second half, Zesco made two changes as they brought Enock Sabumukama for Edward Tembo in the 56th minutes and Jesse Were for Winston Kalengo in the 65th who changed the complexion as they pressed with intensity. It was 19-year-old Enock Sakala the only Zesco striker to find the net twice this season who is also the son of the former Zesco united great Enock Sakala who came to the fore to bag all the three points for Zesco united to ease the pressure on Numba Mumamba.
The result sees Zesco United climb nine places up into 2nd position on eleven points level with Zanaco but with an inferior goal difference of four while Chingalika the Buchi boys Kitwe United remain stagnant in the relegation waters.
At 107 Godfrey Ucar Chitalu, it rained goals as magnificent people’s team Kabwe Warriors hosted Buildcon who have only lost one game this season from six matches they have played. Akakubelwa opened the spillways in the 17th minute and five minutes later Buildcon leveled the matters through a Gerald Chisha freekick before Akakubelwa Mwachiaba picked up his brace in the 41st minute to end the first half 2-1 in favor of the host who had a lot of possession but failed to take their chances.
In the second half Buildcon made double substitutions at once as they brought in Mwansa Nsofwa and Wilmore Haatembo for Conlyde Luchanga and Praise with the latter substitute leveling matters for them in 60th with a long-range shot but eleven minutes later Kabwe restoring the lead. As if the dram wasn’t enough, Buildcon were awarded a spot-kick in the 89th minute which led to protests from Kabwe Warriors technical bench and fans but it didn’t change the decision of the center referee as the penalty stood which was converted by Zambia national team center back Isaac Shamujompa who coolly slotted a thunderous strike to end the match 3-3. The final whistle was mered with ugly scenes as the Buildcon bus was stoned by angry Kabwe Warriors fans. The result has moved Kabwe warriors one place up after picking up two wins and two draws with three losses from seven games on 12th position with eight points while Buildcon keeps their safely guarded position six with nine points.
Green Buffaloes played host to Lusaka Dynamos at MTN stadium of woodlands in Lusaka. It was a game where Geoffrey ‘Khune’ Silavwe was given a first start between the sticks ahead of Fred Silwamba who impressed with great saves which earned him the man of the match award after 90 minutes. Lusaka Dynamos had much of the possession with many chances created.
In the second half Elite continued where they left from in the first half as they were drama in the 50th minute following a nice inter-play among Collins sikombe, Marvin Jere, Aubrey Funga, and Emmanuel Chabula with the latter unleashing a thunderbolt which bounced on the line which led to LD players celebrating but the officials ruled that it was not a goal as the ball did not cross the line. After 90 minutes it ended nil-all. The host, Green Buffaloes has moved back to the 4th position with nine points while Lusaka Dynamos have also moved one step backward to the 5th position with nine points.
At Nkoloma stadium, Red arrows were outclassed by visiting high flying Nkwazi who came from a goal down to beat them 2-1. Red Arrows dominated the match in the first thirty minutes forcing Eric Chomba of Nkwazi to slot in his net in the seventh minute before he also netted in the 30th minute this time around in the right net to cancel out his earlier mistake, 1-1.
Pride Mwansa put the visitors in the lead three minutes later to earn Nkwazi a well-deserved win.
The loss means Arrows drop to the eleventh position with eight points with a negative goal difference. Nkwazi on the other hand has gone up the radar from 14th position to 10th position on eight points.
