The Zambia U-17 Women’s national team will this morning look to seal a place in the final of the Women’s COSAFA U-17 Championship at the ongoing Region V games in Lesotho.
Zambia will lock horns with Namibia at 10:00 central African time for a place in Monday’s final. Zambia is eager to win gold having come close last year at the COSAFA U-17 Championships only to be denied by bad officiating.
The Copper Princesses only need a draw to secure a place in the final since the Competition has only remained with three teams after several teams withdrew due to the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kaluba Kangwa’s lasses started the campaign on a strong note on Thursday beating the hosts 3-1 after initially going down early the match.
Lucy Kajiya scored a brace while Pataaki Girls forward Jessy Zulu netted a goal as Zambia came from a goal down to ease past Lesotho.
Coach Kaluba Kangwa has made one change with Gracious Tailoshi replacing Josephine Phiri in midfield. This means chitete Munsaka will start in goal with Monica Mutisa, Esther Musialela, Theresa Musatila, and Luty Kamanga making up the back four.
Roydah Ng’andu, Tailoshi and skipper Lubasi Pumulo are expected to partner in the middle of park with Lucy Kajiya leading the line. Pataaki Girls duo of Blessings Zulu and Jessy Zulu will offer support to the Buffaloes young striker.
