Referees are killing our game says Lumwana coach

Lumwana Radiants coach Bilton Musonda has expressed his displeasure over the level of officiating in the Zambian Super League.

The North Western based side are currently fighting for the status in the Zambian Super League.

The former Mufulira Wanderers and Zambia midfielder highlighted the mistakes of referee Milton Mweemba.

“The result is not the reflection of the game,” Musonda said after his side’s 2-0 defeat to Forest Rangers over the weekend.

“Yes we conceded two goals but the first goal was given on a silver plater.

“These days we all know the rule of a handball , the defender if his hands are contacted to the body there is no way you can blow for a handball,” he complained

“And it was not even near to the hands it was on the tummy and he blew for a handball and that’s when we had just started the game.”

“This has just happened to us and I don’t know if today maybe I can speak about it.

“We have conceded such penalties maybe in five to six games in a row on the road and not at home on the road,” Musonda bemoaned his side lack of protection from the referee.

“I feel my referees they are killing our game,” adds Musonda

“You know when you prepare for the game and somebody gives a penalty like that it demolises the team.

“The tactics changes from there because you have already conceded in an early stage you need again to push for an equalizer.

“But all in all it’s a game of football, they’ll say a carpenter always blames his tools sometime when he loses the game.

“Today in the first half we gave a lot of spaces to our friends until we reorganized in the second half, we had three to four clear chances of which we could have equalized before they scored the second goal.

“It is not a good result for us as you have mentioned but it’s part of the game we will take the same result and will go back home with the same result.

“It is a worry to our technical bench that we are not converting the chances we are creating.its a wake up call, it’s for the players to adjust and sometimes you put yourself under pressure when you find yourself in that situation that is your career you need to cool down and do the right thing.

“It’s still on until the last game.Even if today we have lost our friends who have won they’re not going to reach the forty points mark , they are still in the thirty mark we can still catch up.

“The 40 mark which is the most important points tally limit for this season. Our next game is very important for us to catch up with the rest.”
