Chipolopolo Boys has named an attacking side for tonight’s AFCON 2017 clash against Congo at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The ZamFoot Crew takes a look at why Lwandamina ditched his conservative defensive approach where he usually deploys two defensive midfielders.
Kennedy Mweene – Despite having trained with team after he arrived after the last session, Lwandamina has kept faith in the Sundowns bench warmer ahead of Jacob Banda.
Verdict: Fair call. The problem is not Lwandamina or Mweene but the level of the local goalkeepers.
Davies Nkausu – Had Lwandamina opted for a two anchormen then the rampaging Kabaso Chongo could have been the obvious choice. Now in an attacking side like this one then the Free State Stars man, who is more defensive is a wise choice.
Verdict: Very Good Call
Stephen Kabamba – The only recognised left footed full back in the team.
Verdict: Straight forward call
Stopilla Sunzu – He should be wondering how many centre back partners will get every time he pops up. Last time he played it was Buchizya Mfune then Aaron Katebe now Adrian Chama.
He is not the pillar he used to be so carry really carry another player’s deficits.
Verdict: Straight forward call

Nathan Sinkala – Another new partner for him in the engine room. Either Chris Katongo or Kalaba will partner him. Chris Katongo and him have only played together in the middle of the park in 2014 against Cape Verde for 45 minutes.
Verdict: Straight forward call
Chris Katongo – If he will start in midfield then it won’t be new for him. a decade ago he played for Lwandamina at Buffaloes in that role and then there’s that 45 minutes cameo v Cape Verde under Janza.
Is it the case of accomodating him in the starting line up? Time will tell….
Verdict: Debatable
Rainford Kalaba – Captain on the day! He might interchange with Chris Katongo or Winstone Kalengo if the plan A doesn’t work.
Since 2012, Kalaba has been shunted successfuly down the left wing but tonight we could see the return to central midfield if Lwandamina opts for this..
___Kalengo__________Mbesuma______C.Katongo______Lubambo
With Kalaba and Sinkala behind them
Lubambo Musonda – After his role in Kalengo’s goal against Sudan and direct play in 2015, it was difficult for Lwandamina to keep him out of the team.
Verdict: Good Call
Winstone Kalengo and Collins Mbesuma – Looking at the combination the two had last year, Lwandamina woudn’t have wanted to tinker and it could be the reason why Chris Katongo is in midfield.
