Zambia Women’s national team striker Rachel Nachula started her life in Spain off to a good note as she netted on her debut to help Zaragoza CFF to rescue a point in their opening match of the 2020/2021 Spanish Segunda División Femenina season.
Nachula started upfront with Annelie Leitner and Lana Spliter in her Competitive debut in Spain. Fellow Copper Queen Hellen Mubanga started from the bench as she had a knock in training before the match day.
Nachula was the busiest player on the pitch for Zaragoza as she created several chances but Leitner and Splinter failed to make use of them, The first goalless.
In the second stanza, it was more of the same until the 70th minute when a defensive lapse allowed María González a chance to be through on goal and score with a low drive.
Zaragoza equalized three minutes to time, Spliter doing well to control the ball in the area before laying it off for Nachula who slotted home with a powerful left-footed shot into the roof of the net, 1-1 the match ended.
Next for coach Nacho Bracero’s lasses is a trip to Lérida to face Aem, who recorded a 4-1 win over Mallorcan Collerense on matchday one.
