Mbesuma scores, Kennedy Mweene, Davies Nkausu play
Striker Collins Mbesuma has picked up from where he ended the last season when he netted on his league debut for his new club Highland Park when they won 2 – 1 over Boroka in the opening game of the 2016/17 season.
The PSL 2015/16 top scorer propelled the promotion side to their first win in the top flight.
Highland Park had gone down in the 8th minute when they conceded a penalty but the burly striker leveled matters in the 31st minute.
Mashumba netted a second in the 55th minute.
Mbesuma 32 was left out of the national team that played against Kenya due to suspension but is expected to bounce back for the game against Nigeria.
Kennedy Mweene was back in the Mamelodi Sundowns goal and managed to keep a clean sheet when they were held to a goalless draw by Maritzburg United.
The Zambian shot stopper will be hoping to better the four appearances he made for the CAF Champions league semi finalist last season.
Sundowns will now be heading to Ndola to play Zesco United.
Davies Nkausu also played the entire game when his team Free State Stars picked a point against Bloemfontein Celtic after being held 0 – 0 at home.
The 30 year old played 12 games for Free State last season and has featured in both their games this season.

Calm down people. Simple goal as usual. The ball was goal bound from a set piece even if Mbesuma did not touch it. His age/intake mates in the PSL are never considered for national duties any more.
LETS MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!!!
Just give credit were credit is due. Cant you just celebrate your country man and be proud instead searching with all the effort in the world for something to undermine the achievement.
And we wonder why Africa is a 3rd world continent.
Ni PHD syndrome…pull him down…over 50 countries have 30 year olds in their national teams…Giggs played at 40 for Man U, what’s your beef Man?!
The thing is that he is top scorer and still wants to play for his country. Many players announce their retirement which he has not yet done.
A goal is a goal and that is what defines a goal getter.credit where it is due.
go mbesuma go and show them
Talk about consistency thats Mbesuma for you. People that he played with in 2005/2006 when he was at Chiefs are all gone. The man is still putting up numbers.
I wonder how many goals he has now in his PSL career?
Way to go baba!!
Mbesuma is the man, may be our next coach should make him the vice captain in the national team because he is one of the senior members of the team that just my suggestion
A goal is a goal it doesn’t matter how You score,as long as the refree has given you a thumbs up.stop the PhD syndrome.
