Pressure mounts on Zanaco hierarchy following Iheanacho transfer debacle

Pressure on the Zanaco Football Club hierarchy has been mounting following the news that they signed an injured player.

The ZamFoot Crew understands that the sponsors are not happy with how the transfer of Nigerian striker Austine Chingozie Iheanacho was handled.

Iheanacho was signed last September unfortunately while he was carrying a very serious knee injury

“The people from the mother company (Zanaco Bank) are not happy with how the transfer was handled,” a source at sunset stadium told the ZamFoot Crew.

“They have questioned how the player found himself at the club while carrying an injury. Remember there was also Jacques Bitumba Bakulu who joined the club back in 2021 from Moroccan second tier Olympique Club de Khouribga on a 2-year deal but was only seen on the bench once against Prison Leopards,” the source added.

The Nigerian penned a one year deal with the Bankers.

However the former Ahli Tripoli player who joined Zanaco as a free agent was signed while carrying a serious knee injury and the club only took him for medicals after he had signed his contract.

Iheanacho’s arrival was announced just a few days after the arrival of Super Eagles Legend Emmanuel Amunike as a consultant for the technical bench.

The Bankers are currently 8th on the log with 32 points from 23 games played so far.

  1. One time master dribbler Alex Chola once commented about the press in Zambia. He said, “they are still in the dark regards soccer news updates”! He was right! They are not investigative enough to be relied upon. Clubs are kept in the dark about developments in other countries. Zambia seems to be recruiting sub standard players and injured players.
