Zambia’s Under-17 women’s national team, the Copper Princesses, have arrived in Rabat ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage in traditional Musisi and Siziba attire.
The team’s arrival in the traditional outfits provided a colourful display of Zambian culture as the young Copper Princesses prepare for their campaign on the global stage.
Zambia spent 10 days in camp in Casablanca, where they fine-tuned their preparations for the tournament and played an international friendly against China.
This will be Zambia’s fourth appearance at the global tournament, having previously qualified for the 2014, 2024 and 2025 editions.
The Copper Princesses made history at last year’s tournament by reaching the round of 16, progressing beyond the group stage for the first time. They will be hoping to build on that achievement as they return to the competition.
Zambia have been drawn in Group D alongside Japan, Venezuela and France.
They will open their campaign against Japan on 18 October before taking on Venezuela three days later, on 21 October. Their group-stage campaign will conclude with a meeting against France on 24 October.
The tournament, which runs until 7 November in Morocco, features 24 teams, including five African representatives, with the hosts also among the competing nations.
The Copper Princesses will be aiming to make another strong impression on the global stage as they seek to progress beyond the group stage for a second consecutive tournament.
