Power face Arrows in rescheduled week one clash

Power Dynamos and Red Arrows will face off in a rescheduled week one encounter despite it being an international break.

Abayellow will be looking for their first win over Red Arrows since 2023. Power Dynamos’ last win over the Airmen came on 10th December, 2023 when they thrashed them 4-0 with Kennedy Musonda scoring a brace and a goal each from Joshua Mutale and Linos Makwaza.

Since then Abayellow and the Airmen have met six times, five in the league and one in the ABSA Cup with Arrows winning four and drawing two.

Red Arrows head coach Chisi Mbewe says morale is high in camp ahead of this encounter.

Mbewe has declared his side ready for the match but he is aware of the challenge ahead of them.

“I think the mood and the morale in the team is high. I think from the beginning of our preparation, going into this game, everyone looks focused, everyone looks set and ready for this game, which even gave us, I think, a lot of headache even to come up with a 20-man squad. I think so far so good. Like we have mentioned, the mood in the team is very high,” Mbewe told the ZamFoot Crew.

“I think even as we are going into this game we know that it’s not going to be an easy game, playing Power Dynamo away. I would say first the atmosphere itself at home, the supporters are always behind the team to push the team. Then again even Power Dynamos are motivated, they are playing in the Champions League competition. They came from qualifying to the next stage. I think there are a lot of challenges that we are going to face in this game but the most important thing, we are prepared, We are ready,” he added.

Kafue Celtic product Albert Kangwanda has scored in the last two games and will be looking to make it three games in a row.

Miche Malonga , Alassane Diarra and Ricky Banda missed the trip to Solwezi but they are back and will be available for selection against Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Meanwhile Abayellow are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing goalless draw against FC MUZA away in Mazabuka. This game is a chance to move up the table for the defending Champions.

Power Dynamos have collected eight points from their opening four matches and sit 11th on the log, though having played three games less than most teams but can move up to even 4th with a big win today.

Abayellow have welcomed midfielder Fred Mulambia back from injury but will be without dependable defender Dominic Chanda and first choice goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga who is out on National duty with the Chipolopolo Boys.

Arthur Davies Stadium is expected to provide its usual noise, atmosphere and colour, with home fans eager to see their side climb closer to the top half of the table. Power has made their home ground a difficult place for visiting teams, and they will look to draw strength from that support once again.

Kick off at Arthur Davies Stadium is set for 15h00 with tickets going at K30 for open wing and K300 for VIP.
