Kitwe giants Power Dynamos have moved to the summit of the MTN Super League table following an emphatic 3-1 win over newcomers Lumwana Radiants.
A mouth-watering encounter it was at Arthur Davies with the Stadium full in the first home game of the season for Abayellow.
Mwenya Chipepo’s men gave fans what they had gone to the Stadium for as they managed to thrash the Uranium Boys 3-1.
With both teams having had so many scoring opportunities it was however the home team that emerged victorious.
Lumwana missed an opportunity to open the score in the sixth minute when Lawrence Mulenga did well to handle a powerful header.
In the 18th minute, Luka Chamanga’s long-range shot went over the bar denying him the opportunity to get his first goal of the season.
Power could have opened the scoring in the 20th minute but Kennedy Musonda’s effort was dealt with by Fred Wambinji in the Lumwana goal with his outstretched leg doing the trick.
Power dominated the early exchanges creating a lot of chances.
In the 21st minute, Owen Tembo came close to opening the scoring but his effort went over the bar. Lumwana also had their chances but Lawrence Mulenga was equal to the task.
It was Kennedy Musonda who opened the scoring in the 37th minute. Musonda headed in a Frederick Mulambia assist.
Joshua Mutale took the initial corner kick which was flicked on at the near post by Mulambia. Power went to the break leading 1-0.
A Few minutes into the second half the Yellow side piled more pressure on Lumwana giving them little chance on the ball, Musonda could have completed his brace but missed a clear chance of a Joshua Mutale assist.
He was however not to be denied in the 50th minute as he grabbed his brace. Benjamin Mukanda pulled one back for Lumwana seventeen minutes later, benefiting from the brilliant service of Richard Zulu.
Brian Mwila, Kilonji Mwepu, and Musonda all had chances to restore Abyellow’s lead.
Mwepu was the man at the death, scoring on a half volley finishing off Mwila’s perfectly timed delivery as the two strikers combined for a fine finish, Power Dynamos’ third of the match.

Mwenya Chipepo was left impressed with his team’s performance and went on to encourage his Boys to work even harder
“We are very happy as a technical bench, looking at how bad we started last
season and collecting maximum points in two games gives us a feeling that we will do well this season,” he said.
“The boys just have to be consistent and not underrate any team because there’s no small team in the League.”
Meanwhile Lumwana Radiants head coach Bilton Musonda was left feeling disappointed with the game’s outcome.
“It’s a very bad performance for our side, I think the boys were too relaxed after beating Green Eagles which is not supposed to be the case, as a professional player one is supposed to adjust because a game after a win is another game.”
