Defending MTN Super League champions Power Dynamos have rewarded head coach Osward Mutapa with a new long-term contract, tying him to the club until December 2029 following a highly successful spell in charge.
The extension was confirmed on Friday as the Kitwe giants moved to secure the future of the coach who has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history.
Mutapa has guided Power Dynamos to back-to-back MTN Super League titles in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, restoring the club’s place at the summit of Zambian football, while also leading Aba Yellow to the group stage of the CAF Champions League and the ABSA Cup final.
Club president Benny Simukoko said the decision reflected the board’s confidence in Mutapa’s ability to continue driving the club forward.
“All Power Dynamos contracts are performance-based, including that of the coach. We are proud to continue working with him. Additionally, we have goals as a club and we believe Coach Mutapa is the man to help us achieve these goals,” Simukoko said.
Mutapa welcomed the extension and reaffirmed his commitment to building on the club’s recent achievements.
“I am honoured to extend my stay at this great club until 2029. We have achieved a lot together, but there is still more to do. Our target is to sustain success, compete on the continent, and bring more trophies to our fans,” he said.
The new deal provides Power Dynamos with continuity as they prepare to defend their league crown and challenge once again in continental football.
