Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa says his side is targeting a positive result away to Rivers United when the two teams meet in the CAF Champions League on Sunday, insisting the Nigerian side are strong at home but beatable.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Mutapa praised Rivers United’s attacking intensity and singled out their goalkeeper, who produced a man-of-the-match performance in the first-leg draw in Ndola.
However, the Power boss said his team has analysed the opposition closely and identified areas they believe can be exploited.
Mutapa added that his players are highly motivated as they look to close the gap on the top two in Group A, drawing confidence from previous away victories that helped the club progress to the group stage of the competition.
He also expressed disappointment at failing to win the first meeting in Ndola but felt encouraged by his side’s overall display and the number of chances created despite not finding the net.
Power Dynamos defender Samuel Ayodeji, also speaking at the press conference, said it was a “nice feeling” to come up against former teammates at Rivers United, but stressed that focus remains firmly on the task at hand.
“Work comes first,” Ayodeji said.
Mutapa concluded by calling on Power Dynamos supporters to continue backing the team and keeping them in their prayers as they chase a positive away result.
The CAF Champions League Group A fixture between Rivers United and Power Dynamos will kick off at 18:00 CAT on Sunday, 1 February 2026, and will be broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 225.
