Poor FIFA rankings to work against Chipolopolo in World Cup draws

Zambia’s poor ranking on the FIFA/Coca-Cola has seen them take pot four in the draws for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

With the latest rankings released last week on June 2 pitting Zambia on position 20 in Africa, the Chipolopolo have failed to avoid the big guns of the continent in the qualifiers as they can only avoid being in the same group with Libya, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Gabon who are also in POT 4.

The Chipolopolo fell one more place in the June rankings after they were overtaken by Equatorial Guinea who moved into 19th position in Africa.

Zambia will be looking to pick one of the five world cup spots for the 2018 Russia competitions after failing to make it to the finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The draws will be held on 24th June in Cairo.

POT 1 – ALGERIA, IVORY COAST, GHANA, SENEGAL, EGYPT

  1. Naikaba zo’ona any go zambia go out of topic i want to take ths opportunity to thank the zamfoot crew for the work being done u ar emploving each and everyday we thank u for the posts and everythng u make my day my life at large becoz i live bola thanx once again may u continue with the same spirit nowanda guys from outside zambia are also participating. Go zam(bia/foot) go.

    • I see what you did there, You avoided Ghana and Zambia in the same group, wonder why, you must be scared as you know this time around Ghana might not survive and Ghana is aging especially the midfield which has actually been Ghana’s strength, and grandpa Asamoah Gyan isn’t ticking anymore as Castrol’s sacrifice didn’t work. I don’t mean to talk trash, but that’s a fact. I don’t know if Ghana is having a Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah calibre type of a player anytime soon, Kwado Assamoah has been plagued with injuries and that is not helping matters for you guys, I understand that, but much as we have our own issues, we want you guys, we have some unfinished business to settle. Pray hard that corrupt Issa Hayatou gives you guys a group without Zambia. Zambia is angry and wounded, so I understand your fear.

      • u must be day dreaming or u don’t follow European soccer.
Ghana has a lot of capable replacements:

        attack:
Dede and Jordan Ayew, David Accam, Atsu, Kwesi Appiah(cryatal palace), majeed waris and dodoo the new kid from leicester city (inaki williams of bilboa is another option.

they are all seasoned strikers from europe

        midfielders:
Thomas Partey of Atiletico madrid(champions league finalist) Kojo Assamoah, agyeman Badu, afriye Acquah, Wakaso, muntari, alfred duncan, the list is endless

defence; Baba Rahman (chelsea), Schlupp(leicester), Amartey(leicester), Isaac Vorsa, boye, Mensah and Ofosu mensah of manchester united (who recently refused the call up to play for holland in the coming euros)

        Ghana ain’t Zambia pls

      • i don’t know what you smoked this morning. Aging team? or you actually meant zambia which has Katongo still playing at the age of 54. 1 thing Ghana can boost of is continuity and abundance of talent. It’s been along time since Gyan played for the Blackstars but young jordan, Astu, Acheampong, Dede Ayew and company has been banging in the goal. Ghana is yet to lose a match since the Afcon finals(on penalties). If Ghana draws Zambia do you know how happy they will be? with this weak ass Zambian team who can’t even beat Guinea-Bissau how can you beat any time in the Qualifiers? The teams here are no joke. You are the last team in this qualifiers it should tell you something. Zambia may not win even a match and deep down you know it. you lack in every aspect of the game.

    • wait a minute does zambia think they would beat the black stars to a world cup? hahahahaha funny, u guys are really funny.

  2. People our main issue here is to put our house in order. FAZ should acknowledge that Zambian football is in crisis. We need a good coach not ba Chicken. With players it has always been the case if the coach is useless. Avoiding playing big guns is not a solution, @ this stage even Swatzland can beat us with the current form. 2014 WC we could not beat Lesotho. Beat the best to become the best Period

  3. I did say Zambia is in pot for over the weekend. I honestly sense a Algeria,Cameroon,Morroco and Zambia. The only team Zambia can realistically beat is Congo Brazzaville.

  4. WEST AFRICANS ARE PRIMITIVE YOU DO NOT BEAT PIPO ON MERIT YOU ALWAYS MIS TREAT TEAMS FROM SOUTHERN AFRICA HAVE YOU SEEN PLAYERS FROM SOUTHERN AFRICA PLAYING PROFFESSIONAL FOOTBALL IN THE WAR TORN WEST ,EVEN THE BISSAU GAME WAS NOT FAIR, THE SAME APPLIES TO THE GHANA LESOTHO GAME they were made to travel k500 BY ROAD TO KUMASI AND AFTER MISS TREATING THEM LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD CUP YOU WERE TAUGHT NICELY BY THE NOT FANCIED AMERICA AND ZPL,ABSA PSL HAVE PLAYERS FRM NIGERIA, GAHANA, IVORY COAST IT SPEAKS VOLUMES, YOUR LEAGUE GIVES PEANUTS THE GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE NEVER HEARD A PLAYER FROM SOUTHERN AFRICA GOING TO PLAY IN WAR TORN WEST AFRICA , YOUR COACH AT AFCON 2012 SAID GHANIAN PLAYERS USE JUJU , A WHITE MAN ACKNOWLEDING THAT, WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU DID TO OUR 2012 CHAMPIONS .

    • What kind of childish hate speech is that, u call west Africa war torn because we are better footballers. And who says west Africans come to play in your league, I think u guys rather come and pick our surplus players to toughen ur league,After all majority play in professional euro leagues compared to your cosafa players.

  5. Hahahahaahaaa. O Tc Soccerman and Anthony Kandongo, The only difference between West African Teams and South African Teams are
    1. West African teams hardly under estimate opposition. Zambia always play away games without discipline. You shd had watched how Cameroon won in Mauritania and South Africa lost there.
    2. Our image strikes fear in opponents so the always hold us in high regard and are sceptic when attacking us. A year after being champions, the Zambia brand doesnt border any opposition much.
    3. And finally, having Zambia in our group mean they will try not to loose against us but will loose to the others which would surely give us top spot. I trust the auto capitulation button of Chipolopolo.

  6. Ths chu thng i dnt knw what it iz, it always angry about zambia i knw where ths anger i coming from jst when mayuka scored tht goal in 2012 afcon, beat them again at mwanawasa and cosafa last year and we would hav beaten them in kumasi if tht game was a fair play nw he and his fellow xxxxx..hav got an advantage of attackin us due to the problems we are going through to tel u the truth i dnt fear ghana playing zambia wee CHUngwa iwe!!

    • You people are just dunderheads ,i now see how beating Ghana has become so legendary to these mediocre Zambians, they can hardly brood over it .We told you guys to relish in that fluke cup while it last cos any team in your shoes alas Greece and Denmark could have done same. You people were hugely underrated then, but look at how ordinary and drabness you’ve become now that teams have taking you serious. The likes of Lesotho ,Namibia,Sudan, guinea Bissau are etching up boastful history at your expense. This confirms how pathetic and shallow your so called team have become, this isn’t the KK11 that we knew, this isn’t the chabala team we knew, not to even talk of malitoli, tone down on over hyping mediocrity,Its amazing how zambians continue to clamor for Sakuwaha,singuluma-these guys played against Ghana in london in 2009 yet u people continue to lobby for their inclusion in your senior team, compare that to Ghanaian players in that friendly match, hardly do we even remember let alone call them cos we believe in nurturing young guys, this and other systematic youth development have produced lots of youthful payers to feed the senior team without any recycling that you Zambians are so much obsessed with.
You can wallop us by 6 goals whatever wherever, but qualification will always be Ghana’s bedrock. As long as you continue to harbor this childish mentality of west African teams cheating, you will and can hardly qualify for any serious competition. Aren’t you ashamed to run to CAF to cry blood cos of sound beating from a 110th Guinea Bissau?for how long will you portray this kindergarten behavior? like i always say,U CANNOT NEVER QUALIFY FOR THE WC WITHOUT PASSING THROUGH THE DREADED WEST AND THE FEARFUL NORTH.We wait for more of such cries, wailings and lamentations now that the WC qualifiers is about to begin.

  7. Would love to see Zambia in the same group as Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Nigeria.
Having these teams in the group will make us work hard because we know what to expect from them.

And i can guarantee Zambian people that we can top the group.

    • You are praying for hell fire. Zambia would have no problems at the bottom of the group if Ivory Coast, Cameroon & Nigeria are the other teams. Zambia cannot, indeed, WILL NOT win a single match if that were to be their group. DONT WISH EVIL FOR YOURSELF

  8. I think that wrong thinking has overtaken the Zambian football mind, I strongly believe that all the teams in Africa are beatable, all we need is courage to face who ever is put in our way to Lasher or rasha or wherever as long it is for a World cup. Formidable, tactful mentally open and full or belief in the team and himself.

No mountan, no lion, no eagle nor black star nor north African nor young children are indomitable or is it unconquerable with a copper bullet or I mean Chipolpolo eyee!

  10. the truth is only one. we can not beat ghana. even with 3 free points awarded us by caf, we couldn’t chase ghana. I think we should go for ivory coast, nigeria, caneroon. they are weak sides. not ghana, ghana has a dreadful youthful squad now with avram grant. the truth be told. respect to ghana!!!

    • NO NO NO NO. Nigeria is almost certain to qualify for the world cup in 2018. They portend to be fearful than any other team. Haven’t you seen their striking force in the EPL? All they need is a good coach to emphasize on team work. They will dismantle any team if given the proper approach to any match.

  11. Godbless you mumbi watching the Egypt vs Nigeria match in afcon qualifiers then you will know Nigeria was so unlucky….iheanacho,ighalo,iwobi,moses1 & 2, musa…those players with a better coach can tear any team apart
