Saudi Arabia πΈπ¦
Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala Junior played the full match in Al-Fayha’s 0-0 home draw against Al-Shabab FC in the Saudi Pro League. Al-Fayha are 10th on the table after recording a win, loss and draw in the first three matches of the season.
AUSTRIA
Former Zambia Under-20 striker Kingston Mutandwa scored a brace for the SV Reid outfit that gave away a two-goal first half lead to lose 3-2 to Austria Wien in the Austria Bundesliga. Mutandwa has now scored three goals and registered one assist in seven matches in the Austrian topflight. Reid are ninth on the log with seven points from seven matches.
In the second-tier, Chipolopolo prospect Jack Kalichi Lahne played the first 70 minutes in Austria Lustenau’s 0-0 home draw against FAC WIEN. Lustenau are sixth on the table with 12 points from seven games.
ITALY
Zambian winger Lameck Banda was an unused substitute as US Lecce continued their poor start to the Italian Serie A season following a 2-1 loss to Cagliari Calcio. Lecce are bottom of the table with one point from four matches.
In the developmental Primavera One, midfielder Joseph Liteta featured for the Cagliari Under-20 side that went down 3-2 to Sassuolo Under-20. Cagliari Under-20 are 18th on the table after only registering three points from five games.
USA
Defending champions Orlando Pride extended their NWSL winless streak to nine after losing 1-0 at home to North Carolina Women. Midfielder Grace Chanda was an unused substitute while Prisca Chilufya and Barbra Banda were not part of the matchday squad for Orlando. They have now dropped to seventh on the table with 29 points from 21 games, hanging on to a playoff place by just three points.
In another NWSL encounter, Copper Queens star forward Racheal Kundananji netted the equaliser as Bay FC drew 1-1 against Gotham FC. Kundananji has scored two goals in the last two league matches. She now has four goals and three assists this season. Bay FC are 12th on the 14-club table with 19 points from 21 matches.
GERMANY
Chipolopolo skipper Lubambo Sailas Musonda put in a full shift for 1.FC Magdeburg who lost 2-0 at home to giants Schalke 04 in the 2.Bundesliga. Magdeburg remain bottom of the German second-tier table with three points from six matches.
CHINA
Veteran defender Stophila Sunzu has been struggling with injury and was not part of the matchday squad as Changchun Yatai drew Zhejiang Professional FC 3-3 in the Chinese Super League. Changchun move one place up to 15th on the table after amassing 17 points from 25 games.
In the Women’s Super League, Copper Queens winger Xiomara Mapepa was an unused substitute in Beijing Bekong’s 2-1 home victory over Shaanxi Women. Compatriot Fridah Mukoma who is also on the books of Bekong is still on the mend. Bekong are second on the table with 38 points from 21 matches, just two points behind Liaoning Shenbei.
Elsewhere, veteran Copper Queens forward Kabange Mupopo featured as Henan received a 5-1 beating at the hands of Shanghai Shengli. Henan remain bottom of the table with 10 points from 21 matches.
ENGLAND
Striker Patson Daka was introduced in the 88th minute when Leicester City drew 0-0 at home to the Frank Lampard coached Coventry City. Daka faces stiffer competition on the centre forward position from Argentina’s Julian Carranza who was recently acquired on loan from Dutch outfit Feyenoord and featured for the first time in this game. Leicester are fourth on the EFL Championship table with 11 points from six games, five points behind leaders Middlesbrough.
SOUTH AFRICA
Former National Assembly forward Gamphani Jones Lungu featured in Siwelele FC’s (formerly Supersport United) 2-0 defeat to Magesi in the South African Premier Soccer League. Siwelele are 14th on the table with four points after seven rounds of matches.
Still in the South African topflight, Chipolopolo goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata kept his first clean sheet of the season as table toppers Sekhukhune United netted a stoppage time goal to beat Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0. The win keeps Sekhukhune top of the table with 19 points from seven games. They are one point ahead of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns who have played a game more.
DENMARK
Former Djurgardens forward Edward Chilufya Junior played the last nine minutes for the FC Midtjyland side that recorded a 2-0 win over Viborg. Midtjyland are second on the Danish Super League table after getting 18 points from nine matches, two points shy of log leaders Aarhus AGF. Next up for Midtjyland is an UEFA Europa League league phase opener against Austria’s Sturm Graz on Wednesday evening.
ISRAEL
Former Lusaka Dynamos forward Songa Chipyoka had a remarkable last 28 minutes as he came off the bench to score a brace in Hapoel Petah Tikva’s impressive 6-1 win over Maccabi Bnei Reineh in the Israeli Premier League. Chipyoka also chipped in with an assist. Petah Tikva are fifth on the table with seven points from four matches. On the other side, Under-20 AFCON winning midfielder Emmanuel Banda played the full match for Bnei Reineh who are second from bottom with one point from four games thus far.
Elsewhere, Hapoel Be’er Sheva continued their early dominance beating Hapoel Bnei Sakhnin FC 3-1. Midfielder Kings Kangwa put in a good 90-minute shift while winger Joseph Sabobo Banda was an unused substitute for Hapoel Be’er Sheva. They are at the summit of the table after four rounds of matches with 12 points and 19 goals scored.
In the second-tier, former Young Africans striker Kennedy Musonda Junior netted a goal in Hapoel Ramat Gan’s 4-1 victory over Hapoel Afula.
Still in the Israeli second-tier, winger Golden Mashata started on the bench in Hapoel Raanana’s 1-1 draw away to Hapoel Kfat Saba.
SCOTLAND
Former Zambia Under-17 skipper Miguel Changa Chaiwa played the first 82 minutes for the Hibernian FC outfit that bowed out of the Scottish League Cup at the quarterfinal stage following a 2-0 loss to giants Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.
TANZANIA
Midfielder Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale was part of the matchday squad for the SC Simba side that recorded an important 1-0 away win over Motswana side Gaborone United in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round first leg played at the Itani Chilume Stadium. The two sides face off in the second leg next weekend.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, midfielder Clatous Chota Chama Junior featured in Singida BS’ 1-0 away win over Rwandese outfit Rayon Sports in the first preliminary round first leg. The second leg comes up next weekend.
BAHRAIN
Chipolopolo defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda made his debut for Bahrain SC who lost 3-1 away to Al-Hidd in the Bahraini topflight. Musonda joined Bahrain SC as a free agent.
