Players Abroad: Ng’onga, Kalunga and Musonda on target assists for Banda, Lubambo and Ngoma

A number of Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend with Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga and Kennedy Musonda netting in the CAF Confederation Cup. 

Kenneth Kalunga was on target in Portugal. Lubambo Musonda, Emmanuel Banda, and Richard ‘Chungi’ Ngoma set up goals for their respective teams.

In Croatia, Emmanuel Banda came off the bench to play the last 45 minutes and set up a goal for HNK Rijeka who cruised to a 2-1 win over Lokomotiva Zagreb. 

In Denmark, Lubambo Musonda set up a goal but unfortunately his side gave up a 2-1 lead to lose 5-2 away at Brondby. 

Elsewhere, Edward Chilufya’s FC Midtyjlland will be away at Viborg this evening. 

In England, Patson Daka was an unused substitute for Leicester who succumbed to a 3-0 loss at Old Trafford. 

A brace from Marcus Rashford and a goal from Jason Sancho gave the Red Devils a well deserved win.

In Israel, Zambia U-20 national team winger Richard ‘Chungi’ Ngoma set up two goals as Maccabi Netanya U19 edged Maccabi Haifa U19 3-2 in the Israeli U19 Division. 

Ngoma sadly however suffered a collarbone injury and has been ruled out of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations

In Italy, Lameck Banda played 62 minutes of Lecce’s  huge 2-1 win over Atalanta. 

In Portugal, 2017 U-20 AFCON winner Kenneth Kalunga scored a goal and set up another as Lusitaânia de Lourosa recorded a 3-1 win over Maritimo B. 

In Scotland, Fashion Sakala Jnr played the 69 minutes for FC Rangers who cruised to a 3-0 win over Livingston. 

A brace from skipper  James Tavernier, and a goal from Kemar Roofe gave Rangers a well deserved 3-0 win. 

In the Championship, Defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda was an unused substitute for AYR who succumbed to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Partick Thistle. 

In Serbia, Midfielder Klings Kangwa came off the bench to play the last 32 minutes for Crvena Zvezda who played to a 3-0 win over Cukaricki. 

In South Africa, Gamphani Jones Lungu was a second half substitute for Supersport United who played to a 1-1 draw with Royal AM. 

Chipolopolo goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata was an unused substitute for Sekhukhune United in their 2-0 win over Richards Bay. 

Rodrick Kabwe was not part of the match day squad. 

In Tanzania, Kennedy Musonda scored a goal and set up another as Young Africans beat TP Mazembe 3-1 in a CAF Confederation Cup

Former Nkana striker Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga scored the goal for Mazembe from a free kick. 

Musonda was withdrawn with an injury in the 54th minute and was replaced by Stephanie Aziz Ki. 

Clatous Chota Chama put in a full shift while Moses Phiri was a second half substitute for Simba SC who suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Raja Casablanca.
