A must win game against Uzbekistan – Barbra Banda

Zambia Women’s National team captain Barbra Banda says tomorrow’s game against Uzbekistan is a must win for the Copper Queens.

Banda says the team needs to pull up their socks coming from a loss and fight for a win in their next match.

Banda revealed that the team and the coach have worked on their mistakes in the loss to Slovenia ahead of the match against Uzbekistan.

“Going into tomorrow’s game it’s a must win for us. We are coming from a loss so we have to pull up our socks and record a win,” she said.

“We just made a few mistakes as a team but I don’t think they will affect us alot but we have tackled everything with the coach.”

“I think we mostly have to work on scoring. We have been playing well keeping possession but we need to get some goals, that’s what’s remaining,” she added.

The China based forward says the morale in camp is high and the competition is stiff ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“The morale is high and everyone is competing. We have a huge task ahead and all of us players want to go there,” she said.

“These games are helpful because the coach has a chance to analyze the players.”

The Copper Queens who are coming from a 1-0 loss to Slovenia will face off with Uzbekistan at the Miracle Sports Complex at 10:00 hrs.

The Copper Queens are in Group C alongside Spain, Costa Rica and Japan at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which kicks off in July.
