Players Abroad: Mayuka’s Metz lose ground in promotion race

Evans Kangwa and Emmanuel Mbola were both in action over the weekend for the Israeli club Hapoel Ra’anana when they played to a goalless draw against Hapoel Kfar Saba.

The Zambian lads both completed  90 minutes on the day for the fifth placed team.

Rogers Kola on the other hand was an injury time substitute when his club Veria fought to a 1 – 1 draw against away against Xanthi.

With only three starts for in 11 appearances, Kola has struggled for goals in Greece as he has not opened his account.

Lubambo Musonda is back in the country with the Armenian league on recess till March next year. There was also no action for Chisamba Lungu as the Russian is also on break.

Fwayo Tembo was not named in the Astra team that won 3 – 1 against Petrolul Ploieşti to keep a tight grip at the summit of the Romanian Liga I.

Noah Chivuta completed a successful season with Nakhon Ratchasima of Thailand with a 2 – 2 draw away at Muang Thong United to finish fifth on the log.

Former Zesco United striker Jackson Mwanza’s new club Ubon UMT won 3 – 1 on the last day at home to secure promotion into the second tier of the Thailand league. Mwanza penned a two year deal at the third tier side who will be looking to fight for promotion to the premier league next season.

In France, stoppilla Sunzu watched from the bench as Lille romped to a 3 – 0 win at home against Lorient to make it 3 in 3 wins. This is the second consecutive match Sunzu has watched from the bench.

In Ligue 2, third placed Emmanuel Mayuka’s Metz lost ground on the promotion race when they were beaten 2 – 1 at home by log leaders Dijon. Metz are six points off the top spot.

Mayuka again started on the bench but was introduced in the 72nd minute with Metz chasing the game.

  1. Lille now 11th on the ligue 1 table. 3 wins in 3 match. Herve Renard almost turned lille into a relegation team. They hardly scored goals under him now they score for fun.

  2. So Kola is failing to replicate the form from his old club. I guess by now there must be some members of the technical bench thinking it was a mistake to bring him on. 11 games in with 3 starts and 0 goals, now that’s a statistic that would get a striker fired anywhere else. Let’s hope it’s just a bad patch and the lad will find his scoring boots soon.
    Not the best news on Sunzu and Mayuka. It feels like the old hot and cold spirit prevails once again. One week they are shinning for their clubs next they are on the bench or coming off the bench in the dying minutes. It feels like when it comes to Zambian players abroad…..consistency temunobe.
    Looks like for now the only two players we have in leagues abroad that are consistent first team players are Chisamba and Lubambo though for the latter the league must be taken into consideration.

  3. If Sunzu played we would have comments like;
    1Sunzu is among the 3 best defenders in the country
    2. Sunzu would be in EPL nxt season
    3.Sunzu with katebe pairing would put fear into strikers when we start the qualifiers
    4. Sunzu is the reason why Renard is still at post because he is preventing goals

    If Mayuka had scored we would hear comments like;
    1) This boy is the most lethal striker in SAFA region
    2) Mayuka and Kalengoal would reap apart any defence
    3) Mayuka is back

    Sunzu this Mayuka that. Today they are nobodies lolx.
