Patson plays last 25 minutes as Redbull Salzburg force an away draw

Redbull Salzburg started their 2017 UEFA EUROPA league campaign with an away draw in Portugal against Vitoria Sporting Club. Zambian Striker Patson Daka played the last 25 minutes of the 1 all draw.

The 2017 U20 AFCON player of the tournament came on in the 65th minute to replace Fredrik Gulbrandsen. Daka was involved well in the match, Two minutes on the pitch and he won a free kick on the right wing. Three minutes later he linked up well with Valon Berisha who saw his right footed shot go high and wide off the Vitoria goal post.

The pace striker won another free kick for Salzburg in the 88th minute before seeing his header in added time go narrowly wide from inside the 18 yard area after receiving a beautiful cross from Stefan Lainer.

Pedro Henrique headed in the opener for Vitoria just 25 minutes into the match before Valon Berisha could equalise 20 minutes later.

Coach Marco Rose was very happy with the teams perfomance despite feeling they deserved to win the match.

” We were the better side and obviously we deserved to win but am very satisfied with the teams perfomance,” he said

Salzburg’s next match is on 28 September against Marseille at home . Marseille are top of the group after a 1 nil win over Konyaspor. Zambia’s have a bone to chew with Marseille as they eliminated Emmanuel Banda’s Belgian side KV Oostende.

  2. Good start for Patson. It was a high level game, but he fitted well. Looking forward for more from this guy- this time Patson has arrived!
