Pascal Phiri Joins Pyramids FC in Egypt: Zambian Winger the Latest Winter Signing

Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC have announced the signing of 20-year-old Zambian winger Pascal Phiri from ZESCO United, marking their third acquisition during the January winter transfer window. The club confirmed the development on social media here.

Phiri, born on 17 July 2005, has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the Egyptian top-flight club until the summer of 2029. While Pyramidsโ€™ foreign player quota is currently full, the young winger will initially be registered with the clubโ€™s youth team, with plans to integrate him into the senior squad in due course.

Described by Pyramids as one of Zambiaโ€™s most promising emerging talents, Phiri primarily operates as a right winger. He has already made waves on the international stage, having represented Zambia at various youth levels and earning his senior debut in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo in December 2025. However, he was omitted from Zambiaโ€™s recent Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Phiriโ€™s arrival follows the signings of Palestinian midfielder Hamed Hamdan from Petrojet and playmaker Nasser Maher from Zamalek, reinforcing Pyramidsโ€™ ambition as they chase domestic and continental glory.

Currently, Pyramids sit second in the Egyptian Premier League with 27 points, five behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, although they have two postponed matches in hand that could see them ascend to the summit. On the continental front, the club is second in their CAF Champions League group, level on points with Moroccan side RS Berkane but trailing on goal difference. Pyramids hold a comfortable six-point cushion over third-placed Rivers United, putting them in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages.

The Egyptian side are next in action against El Gouna in the league on Wednesday, with a crucial CAF Champions League clash against RS Berkane scheduled for Cairo on Saturday. Phiri will be hoping to make an impact in both competitions as he embarks on the next stage of his burgeoning career.
