The national team technical bench has given a call-up to Orlando Pirates striker Mwape Musonda for this Saturday’s international friendly match against Malawi.
Chipolopolo team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi told Zambianfootball.co.zm that the striker will arrive today at 12:30 to join the national team which is currently in camp.
“We are grateful to Orlando Pirates who have been very cooperative and have agreed to release the player despite it not being a FIFA sanctioned date for the friendly. The technical bench wants to have a look at him ahead of the game on Sunday,” Kamwambi said.
He also disclosed that vice captain Nathan Sinkala has arrived and is training with his colleagues while other foreign based players; Rainford Kalaba, Given Singuluma, Kabaso Chongo and Aaron Katebe are all expected today.
I’m Glad that he has been called
what are charges this game?do ths mwape play to his club or he just warm the bench
He doesn’t play and neither does he warm the bench. He spends his time in the terraces helping supporters on morale boosting.
This coach is either just full of shit or is just controlled by now pathetic and selfish Kalu just what has this little unknown bench warmer done this season to warrant a National team call up?awe kwena they have made the National team cheap these useless clown.
FAZ, Coaches and the so called technical bench have run out of ideas how to revive Zambian football, Felix for example last played for Zambia over 2 years ago are we saying these players as they grow older they become better like whiskey or wine? Even in 2012 AFCON winning team I dont think he played more than 2 games even those he was always a sub, always on bench 3 years down the line you think he has primed? Eish I dont know whats really going on with our football.
Its good to mwape musonda in this team . The coach will an opportunity to assess him . This is how chisamba broke into the senior team . The purpose of this game and cosafa is to assess and identify .
To asses and identify Jackson mwanza and Winston Kalengo??
I personally have no gripe with calling players like Mwape Musonda or even Felix Katongo, though I have reservations on Felix because he hasn’t played in a long time as compared to a young prospect like Musonda.
My issue with all of this is the Haphazard manner in which the call ups are occurring. It smells of desperation and just a general lack of planning. Maybe its because of the Zesco players not pitching up.
lelo lelo! zambia 0 malawi 3
Things I believe that should determine a call up to the national team are proven ability at club level, player fitness as well as the ability to implement the coach’s philosophy. Question is, does Janza have a philosophy that he wants his players to follow? I may be wrong but I’m yet to see it. National team should never be a place where players are assessed. @ Positive Thinking you’re right the situation has the smell of desperation and pure lack of planning. Assessment for national team level must come on the back of assessment done on a player at his club.
Agreed Paddy. We are not seeing the philosophy, perhaps it will take time.
another hopeless call up.This guy was so horrible in the last game he played
My arguement is to callplayers who can’t score because they young.A philosopy is what the coach believes,I think Janza using counter attacking it was clearly seen in the match against Tunsia. Its not ease for Janza to build is philosofee within a short period even Van Gaal has failed lamentably.Give Janza a chance like Manu u have done.Janza using Given Singuluma as a box to box midfield is not working,he should think over it and calling this player from orlando is wrong.
Janza z dull I wonder how you got your coaching credentials? A player who z on the bench at Pirates z not good enaf for the national team!!wat are you assessing?? Give a chance to under 23players playing week in week out locally
How do you call Sinkala who has no team but train at TP Mazembe? Since AFACON he has never played competitive football and yet you call him in the National team. USELESS COACH.
Thou they like this boy, he is very lazy when he loses the boy he doesn’t fight for it. When he is walking he always looks down like a hyena, very pathetic player.
On Mwape Musonda I just wish him good lucky in his carear.he has just played two games for Orlando Pirates, ofwhich he could not complate the last third pass but I under stood the reason why had preasure on him.he has a good hight speed but he lucks the final third pass.it is a great move for FAZ to invite him, this is the way great players are made
