The Copper Queens’ Group C opponents Malawi suffered a 2-1 to Morocco the build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals in Morocco.
Former Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club midfielder Ireen Khumalo scored the consolation goal for Malawi converting from the penalty spot.
The scorches are in the same group with Egypt, Nigeria and Zambia.
The Copper Queens have already set up camp in Algeria. Zambia will face Algeria on Sunday in a friendly match.
Earlier on Egypt faced Senegal in two international friendly matches on 8th July, Egypt suffered a one nil loss to Senegal thanks to a Nguenar Ndiaye lone strike.
Then on 11th July , Joana George’s lone strike gave Egypt a narrow win over Senegal.
The tournament will run from 26 July to 16 August in Morocco and will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with four automatic qualification places available for African teams.
