The Zambia national team camp is almost full following the arrival of DR Congo domiciled players led by skipper Kabaso Chongo ahead of Thursday’s showdown against Algeria in Blida.
The TP Mazembe defender is confident Zambia will qualify for the 2021 AFCON tournament. Zambia missed out on the 2017 and 2019 editions.
“Of course we going to qualify. This is our time to qualify. We missed two AFCON tournaments but this is our time,” Kabaso told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview from Blida.
The Copper Bullets will start their quest for the 2021 tournament to be hosted by Cameroon with a tricky encounter against the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Thursday. Kabaso believes the team will easily blend and gel as they prepare for the match.
“Everyone is a professional in camp, We are not yet a full house as others are joining later but we blend easily in preparation for the game which we are looking forward to,” he said.
Zambia dominated the African Champions in their recent encounters beating them home and away in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The Chipolopolo captain believes the team gathered can replicate the 2017 results.
“We need each one’s strength to overpower Algeria, Our unity and cooperation during the game will determine the outcome of the match,” he said.
“We need to have each other back especially when an individual makes a mistake during a game, it’s the responsibility of the other to correct the mistake without complaints as we doing it for our Nation Zambia,” Kabaso continued.
Zambia is in Group H alongside Algeria, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
