Chipolopolo Boys coach Wedson Nyirenda has dared the Football Association of Zambia, (FAZ) to fire him after refusing to appear before the Technical Committe to review his performance, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
According to the ZamFoot Crew sources familiar with the development, the FAZ Technical Committee was set to review Nyirenda’s performance.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga had said on Muvi TV’s Assignment programme that Wada Wada’s performance was going to be reviewed as an on going process before the September African Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia.
However, Nyirenda is believed to have snubbed the FAZ Technical Committee and dared FAZ to fire him.
“Wada sent an email to AK (Andrew Kamanga) indicating that it will be pointless for him to appear before the TC (Technical Committee) after Kamanga’s statements in the aftermath of the South Africa loss,” a source told Zambianfootball.co.zm
Recently Sports Minister Moses Mawere said FAZ are free to fire Nyirenda if they have money to pay an expatriate coach.
Initially, Nyirenda was set to be appointed as an assistant coach but the failure to hire an expatriate coach due to lack of funds from government, Bola House decided to offer the former Zanaco and Zesco United coach a three year deal believed to worth around $10,000 a month.
Nyirenda’s salary is being bankrolled by government and should FAZ terminate his contract then his contract has to be bought off with roughly around 18 months remaining.
The perfect scenario is for Nyirenda to resign but that is an option his advisors are not willing to take.
Sources say Wada’s refusal to appear before the Technical Committee is viewed as a resignation although he has not tendered a resignation letter.

These are indeed interesting but sad times in Zambian soccer.Just after this FAZ non elective AGM ,FAZ has come under intense scrutiny from certain quarters with all sorts of allegations in the social media and now this? What is really happening mwebantu??This to me does not instill confidence in our soccer administrative wise and ultimately the casualty in all this is the progression of ‘the beautiful game’ in Zambia.PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.
IT IS SAD INDEED AND IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO TRUST THE KAMANGA ADMINISTRATION.LET FAZ HIRE GERMAN, SERBIA OR FRENCH COACH
This is nosense South Africa won with a local Musungu Coach, the problem is not Wada Wada alone the Administration is also a problem How can Kamanga and his adminstration vindicate themselves for their ineptness in logistics and payments of players’ dues?
Check your facts South African coach muzungu is not local is British
I know Stuart Baxter is British/Scottish so are so many of the white South Africans with dual Citizenships whom when they come here don’t even dream of going back to Europe, His Son is a goal-keeper Coach for Amakhosi! I stay in South Africa and know what I am talking about this Coach was selected from the pool of Local Coaches in the South African League. Here they do not regard him as a foreign Coach.
Wadda needs to grow up. How on earth does an employee refuse to show up for an assessment or appraisal? This man needs to be better and do better. Face the music and own your responsibility, if you’re a national team coach then you need to have thick skin. Everyone is going to criticize you and vilify you; own the losses Wadda and let the players revel in the glory. Man up and show up so you can speak your piece.
The disorganised administration of Kamanga, are free,to review the performance of the coach in his absence, since he refused. After that make a decision.
kamanga and co. deceived many, now they can see for themselves what a failure he is. we are failing on the pitch as well as administrative. kamanga must go!
Fire Wada And Replace Him With Irfan Kawri
You seee!!! Wadda needs to grow up. How on earth does an employee refuse to show up for an assessment or appraisal? If it was Fyayo Tembo and Triple CCC he would have dropped them out the National Team for the rest of their life as long as he is the Coach! Please we don’t want him anywhere near our Chipolopolo!!!He is a trophy less manager ! Qualifying for W.C. failed,Wining CHAN failed, Cosafa failed, even a simple 4Nations Tournament he failed and you want Zambia to fail to AFCON ????????
EMPLOYEE ANOTHER COACH………………………!!!
Bloggers pliz u cant blame Kamanga for Wadas failure to improve the team. AK knew that Wada was not up to task of national team coach and offered him the role of assistant coach. However the powers that be refused; thru the fumes of JAMESON whisky saw Wada as the man to be tasked with the job. There lies in the problem; an incompetent person making decisions over a matter he least understands.
WADA should be dismissed for Insubordination and failure to meet targets like World Cup Qualification wasn’t he given a performance based contract? If they didn’t then they are to blame.
Anyway you look at it WADA HAS TO GO.
By the way do not appoint BESTON showed us how incapable he is when we went to U 20 WC
With all the problems in Faz at the moment I think I would wait to hear what Wada has to say about the whole thing! I, for one, am not happy with the way soccer has been run in Zambia(not only Kamanga but Kalusha, Simata Simata, Teddy Mulonga to mention a few) to say the truth there is no transparence and maturity!
That’s very true @Mulenga Pulu!!!!
I can blame Wada Wada on some instances but most of the blame goes to the Adminstration why? Because no team can play without resources in today’s soccer world, you can yap or blub at the Coach but these guys the Coach and FAZ need to account for their flaws and both take responsibility for the failures. Its time our players also took responsibility! look at the South African and Zimbabwean players, man o man, they play with pride but our players yaba only maybe one or two would seem to give their whole! I look forward to a time when we will have a lot of Chris Katongos,Winston Kalengos Kalushas, mbesumas,Mordon malitolis, dennis Lotas to mention a few…..mamamama these players played with pride and the love – heart for mother Zambia “Patriotism”.
we must look at this issue critically not just from an arm chair critic point of view believe you me even the next Coach will be perceived the same as Wada Wada is.
In 2013 when Harve Renard was being stipped naked with insults from bloggers I had the same sentiments but alas our pin-heard supporters could not see the problem then came Janza the same problem, Lwandamina the same, Wada Wada the same continued and who is the next victim think and in this game the first pieces sacrificed are the soccer loving Citizens who are only shown the one side of the game board……mamamama this is a major problem which will never eternally be solved if we do not open our eyes.
Noted with thanks, @Truth Seleniko Twikale ,some points mentioned where in suspense! Let’s come out clearly because these are the same points which helps FAZ in resolving issues.
The fact is that Wada Wada is too personal with things to football players.
@LAMECK KALIKOKHA as I said I am not supporing Wada Wada and what you are saying is true the ting is we must deal with both the roots and branches in order to come to a concrete solution. The main problem I see with Wada Wada is team selection even Lwandamina was better, the other is the tactical aproach and discipline which for me is lacking even with Beston Chambeshi his assistance if you watched the U20 World cup matches including Nkana FC’s confederation qualifiers you would agree with me.
Already this so called coach lost the Opening game at home against Mozambique and as things stand we are at the Bottom of the AFCON 2019 QUALIFIERS Table, with Mozambique and Guinea – Bissau topping the table.
Surely personally I can not trust him with the AFCON qualifiers “in my opinion” unless He justifies his case with valid alternative submissions.
To me, kamanga and the entire executive must step down, and allow, investigation from an independent body from FiFA, An interim executive must be appointed to run football while investigation by are being conducted, until a new executive is voted in,The interim executive should apoint,a new local coach. After the investigation, the team carrying such investigations should make recommendations, Those who want to clear their names such siwale, and kazala, should be accorded a platform for to that.Kamanga, ponga, and those working with him, must be given an opportunity to exonerate themselves from those figures exposed from classified documents. They must explain if it was morally right to share such huge sum of money to themselves. Any guilty person must be prosecuted. And given appropriate sanctions.
If there is such provision in the constitution in FAZ Constitution, then, then Kamanga must recommend, to FIFA requesting for independent investigative body to carry out such ,this is because Most in football fraternity do not trust kamanga and his executive. .This is my opinion.
@km your opinion is valid and reasonable, surely there must be an explanation offered to all football loving Zambians as this is uncalled for and so agonizingly detrimental to our game!
Wada may have been a good player in his heydays. Unfortunately that does not necessarily mean a good coach. This applies to many players turned coach in our country. IQ matters more…
Wada is a better coach than he was as a player. Lyali likula muleumfwako fye! However, i feel most bloggers are so abrasive on him! To me, we have been so quick to judge him. He has built this team and it will be so sad to do away with him just now coz we will have to get back to the building process. How sad!
Let us not roast Wada yet. Let us allow him to finish his final assignment of qualifying the team to the Afcon 2019. If he fails on this one, we will safely say “MWABOMBENI MUKWAI go well”
I agree. Just change the stadium and we will be smiling again.
Lets stop finger pointing. Even Mourinho or Guardiola can fail to qualify the team to Afcon 2019. Problem is the stadium.
We fail to perform at Levy Mwanawasa for unknown reasons. Statistics are there. It may be psychological. For Zambia to qualify, we must play the rest of the home games at Heroes Stadium.
I bet you if the Under 20 had played some of the games at this stadium, they would not have lifted the trophy.
Other teams like Nigeria, Ghana etc understand these things that’s why Nigeria played the last game in UYO instead of the usual stadium. Even Ghana when they qualified ahead of Zambia, they played in another stadium.
