Chipolopolo defence pillar Nyambe Mulenga will miss the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament as he won’t recover in time after he sustained a fractured limb in the accident that occurred Sunday morning.
According to an update by FAZ, Nyambe has been ruled out for at least 12 weeks but his injury is not life threatening.
Nyambe has been one of the most consistent defender in the league this year and in the national team which has had a shaky back-line in the qualifiers.
The tragic accident which claimed four lives including the Zesco driver and three from the other vehicle has also put U17 holding midfielder Changwe Kalale’s chances of making it for the U17 Africa Cup in jeopardy as the teen star also sustained a fracture on his left leg.
The U17 national team is set to go in camp next month for the tournament to be played in Senegal kicking off in February.
Below is a full update on the three players:
Nyambe Mulenga: has suffered a fracture on his right leg and has several lacerations on the body. He will need a POP later. Mulenga will be out of action for at least twelve weeks.
Changwe Kalale; Has suffered a fracture on his left leg and has a deep cut on the right side of the head and a broken right arm.
Satchmo Chakawa;has a ruptured spleen and a raptured bladder. His condition has been described as serious but stable.
The three players were heading to Lusaka to join the Chipolopolo camp when the accident occurred.

I feel sorry because its just when Nyambe was going to make his impact at Afcon whch has been eluding him and for sure we needed him. But all the survivors can count themselves lucky to be alive. Thinking of those that did.
This is terrible news! RIP to all the deceased and quick recovery to the survivors! O Lord my God have mercy!
our prayers are with you and the families affected.
This is indeed sad news for every one. My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their beloved ones in the accident. It is a huge setback for our defender Nyambe Mulenga who was just getting back to the level most of us wished he could. Of course the youngsters too who are establishing themselves in the national team and the clubs they play soccer. We just pray that all the three players and other victims will recover soon.Friends, do our players have any good health care system to help them and the families when this kind of tragedies happen?Hope there is a plan or they do have health insurance to help them while they will be just confined to their beds.
wishing the players a quick recovery. This is very very sad indeed.
A dual carriege way is needed from Lusaka to Kabwe, infact it should just be streched further to Ndola. The news is already on GSN.
Masauso Mwale (Nkana Coach) died in the dual carriage way, an accident is an accident boss!! We can only wish the hospitalised a quickest recovery while send condolences mgs to the berieved families.
What you have said is true but, it reduces the amount of accidents boss!
Its really sad. Just wishing the survivors quick recovery. It hurts me the most that I lost my ex girlfriend, the mother & her sister from the other vehicle. The father, who happens to be a Pastor is in ICU. Very shocking & disturbing news indeed. May God be with the affected families & give them strength during this trying moment.
I Wish them a quick recovery. Its a big blow to them, the families and the nation at large. To the deceased i can only grant them God’s mercies during this time of sorrow. MTSRIP

I meant to say piece
Too bad May God comfort the families that have lost our beloved ones and quick recovery.
sad indeed, we thank God for others who survived .
So sad indeed. May the bereaved families find comfort in the Almighty God. And the deceased rest in eternal peace. A quick recovery to the injured.
Sad story indeed. God help everyone.
Sad indeed for our players, the Pastor and indeed the ones who perished. Every accident has a cause/causer and we need to learn from such mistakes to avoid fatalities of this nature. The Kabwe – Lusaka road is not that bad, its only those with little or no patience that gets into trouble, lack of adhearing to safety traffic rules and concentration at all times. Quick recovery to all.
Good point @Amuna Onzuna
