Numba names provisional squad for U20 title defence

Zambia will soon start it’s title defence for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations with qualifiers to the 2019 Niger 2019 Africa cup of nations.

Numba Mumamba has summoned 53 players including those who were at the 2017 COSAFA U20 championships. Zanaco on loan winger Forest Rangers Kunda Nkandu has made the squad together with team mate Damiano Kola.

According to a list posted on the FAZ official Facebook page Nkana on loan striker to Kitwe United Emmanuel Kalala has also made the list.

Zambia is on bye for the first round but will join the fray on the weekend of May 11-13 where they will face the winner between Kenya and Rwanda who are competing in the first round.

  1. 53 player? That seems excessive to me. At this level we should have a good clue of who the top 30 players are. Trials should be happening a provincial level and then you just whittle down the list to a manageable number of players who you can fully evaluate

  2. not this man again. Please. Last time when preparing for cosafa he summoned 40 and there after performed very poorly. He has never couched any other team apart from zanaco. What about the likes of chambeshi and lwandamina?

  3. Poor selection again?! The selectors were able to find players as far afield as Kasama,Chirundu etc how? Did Numba watch them perform or some villagers saw them play on some bare ground?! On the other hand no young player from Power,Nkana, Zesco, lumwana,Wanderers,Konkola,Buildcon, Kalulushi,Kansanshi,Warriors,Roan,Arrows,all division 1 and 2 teams on the line of rail; all junior players from these teams were assessed and found unsuited???!! Gentlemen Numba is planning to fail.
