Numba happy with a point but rues missed chancesĀ

Sensational ZANACO coach Numba Mumamba has described his team’s 1-1 draw with Green Buffaloes as a fair result.

Numba believes a draw against a team like Buffaloes is a fair result but was left disappointed with his team’s failure to convert chances.

The former Chipolopolo winger says his team dominated the first half and could have been leading by a good margin but were let down by their poor finishing in front of goal.

ā€œGetting a draw for us is a fair result looking at the team we were facing. Like I said earlier it was not going to be an easy game. We dominated in the first half and created numerous chances that we wasted. In the second half when they made changes they looked a better side and managed to equalise,ā€ Numba told the ZamFoot Crew.

ā€œWe also made adjustments when we saw that Green Buffaloes took control of the game, the team picked up and we almost got a goal but unfortunately we did not get a winning goal today but all the same getting a draw against a team like Buffaloes is a fair result for us.ā€

ā€œOur aim is to maximize on home advantage to pick maximum points but today we have failed to do that but we are happy with a point, it has made a difference,ā€ Numba added.

The Bankers went into the match without five players; Lambert Araina and Robert Saizi who have knocks, John Chishimba who is out with a sickness and the duo of Frederick Mwimanzi and George Ngoma who are loan from Green Buffaloes and can not play against their parent club.

Numba was however very impressed with the players who came on in their place and had huge praise for them.

ā€œIf you look at the way the players who came on played, they performed according to expectations and this is what we expect as ZANACO. There is competition in the team and that’s why we were able to dominate even with five players out of the team,ā€ he said.

On missed chances Numba says the team will go back to the training ground and work on their finishing.

ā€œOf course when you create chances and not convert chances it’s a bit concerning on our part as a technical bench because we expect our players to convert, to have precision in front of goal but unfortunately we could not do that. So our job is to make sure that we get down to work and work on our finishing so that we can improve,ā€ he said.

Ian Sindaye put the hosts in the lead in the 47th minute after being set up by Malawian forward Chawananga Kaonga while Moonga Chilimba leveled matters in the 77th minute from the penalty spot.

The match had a moment of madness after Green Buffaloes had 12 players on the pitch but it was quickly corrected after it was noticed.
