“Nothing to Fear” – Chisala Says Zambia Ready to Take on Morocco in Crucial AFCON Clash

Zambia midfielder Wilson Chisala has dismissed fears about facing tournament favourites Morocco, declaring that the Chipolopolo are ready, confident, and believe their opponents can be beaten.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s Group A match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, Chisala made it clear Zambia are not intimidated by the challenge:

“Morocco is an overrated and beatable team. We are ready to face them,” he said.

The 23 year old Zanaco midfielder replaced David Simukonda in the second half in the goalless stalemate against Comoros on Friday to make his debut.

“The game is tough and we are prepared to face them. There’s nothing to fear and we are ready.”

Chisala also reflected on the pride and excitement of competing against top sides on Africa’s biggest stage:

“It means so much and it’s a dream come true. These are teams that every player would want to play against. It’s motivation.”

Despite the pressure that comes with high-stakes international football, the midfielder emphasized that Zambia are mentally ready:

“The pressure is there but as I just said we are ready and there’s nothing to fear. We will face them.”

Morocco currently lead Group A, with Mali and Zambia level on two points each, and Comoros on one ahead of the final round of group matches tonight.

With both Zambia and Mali on 2 points, and Morocco on 4, tonight’s result could be decisive in determining who progresses to the AFCON round of 16.

Zambia will need a strong performance to upset the group hosts and keep their knockout hopes alive.
