The Western Province Division one league was not an exception in the challenge of back-to-back fixtures after playing week 18 matches, the teams went into midweek fixtures for the rescheduled week 1 games.
As usual, in week 18 only 6 games were played while 3 games were walkovers, and in the midweek week 1 rescheduled fixture, the number was the opposite as only 3 games were played and 6 went as walkovers due to away teams failing to travel.
Luena Buffaloes continues to shine and dominate the western region when they went to carry all three points when they beat Luampa Parrots by 4 goals to nil away from home.
In a week 1 rescheduled fixture on Wednesday, Luena Buffaloes continued their chase for the National League playoffs qualification when they were comfortably awarded 3 points and three goals when the visiting team Luampa Parrots were nowhere near the matchday venue. Buffaloes are now on top with 32 points while Parrots are second from the bottom with 7 points.
Second-placed Katima Boarders Stars continues to make a chase on Luena Buffaloes as they trail with just 4 points. Over the weekend they walked with a 3 nil win against Luampa Young Stars and in a week 1-midweek game, again they collected 3 points and three goals without sweating with a walkover in their favor as Luampa Young Stars could not travel.
The situation of Celtic 08 that seemed difficult to survive the relegation, it has now seemed to be more difficult for them as they lost to Shangombo FC at home in a week 18 match and for the midweek game they gave away the points as they could not travel for the math citing financial issues.
From 11 games, Celtic is yet to find the back of the net, they have lost all the 11 games and conceded a total of 33 goals sitting at bottom of the table without a point. While Shangombo is now 8th on the log with 18 points after winning 6, losing 5, scoring 19, and allowed 17 with a positive 2 goal difference.
