No Kalaba for Sudan game

Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina will have to shuffle his cards tomorrow Sunday when Zambia host Sudan in a 2018 FIFA World Cup second round second leg qualifier with captain Rainford Kalaba ruled out.

The ZamFoot Crew in Ndola covering proceedings in the build up to the game confirmed that Kalaba sat out the Saturday training with the technical bench confirming he is not well.

“Kalaba had a fever yesterday (Friday) and he is still feeling weak so he has been given seven days to rest,” Kabungo said on the sideline of the team’s Saturday afternoon training.

Joining Kalaba on the sidelines is defender Dauti Musekwa who continues to nurse a hamstring injury which saw him miss the first leg.

However, there was good news as Evans Kangwa who missed the first leg joined up with the team and was part of the Saturday training.

Chisamba Lungu was not called for the game.

Zambia carry a slender 1 – 0 lead from the first leg and will be looking at finishing of the tie at Levy Stadium on Saturday.

ZNBC will carry match live, kicking off at 15:00hrs.

  1. I think Kalusha has to stop interfering with team selection this is very serious. The team has no creativity what so ever other than lubambo what else can chicken put in there? Nothing really. Allan mukuka and fwayo tembo have to come back

    • Yaba, no Kalaba, no Chisamba… No entertainment.
All falls on Mbesuma just to have the best day God can give him.
This is why Lwandamina need consider Mukuka Mulenga, ka Bruce Musakanya…. Fans also enjoy to watch the PLAY and not just goals.

  2. This will be a big miss, but at the same time a great opportunity for Zambia to show and prove that they can hold their own in the absence of Kalaba. True character comes out in the midst of a crisis. While this is not a crisis, it will no doubt affect the team’s morale and confidence. Without underestimating Sudan, I must say I can’t see anything other than a Zambian win. Can the real chipolopolo step forward!!!

  3. This Sudan team is not the same Sudan we knew. As the country split even some players went with South Sudan. One Spenser Sautu will step in Kalaba’s shoes. My starting XI:Mweene, Donashano,Mkandawire, Buchizya,Sunzu, Sinkala, Sautu, Katema, Kalengoal, Mbesuma, Lubambo. Later on we can introduce Kangwa, Mwelwa and golden boy Luchanga.

  4. @Abram, why can’t you just put your statement in one or two solid comment? Do you have to comment several times in row for your point to be heard, surely? It’s cumbersome man.

    • Kekekekeke Ba Abram is just clearing, shooting comments like clearing long balls in the crowds. Sometimes it is good to chest the ball- drop it pa knee- trap it – look around, shout mwaya mwaya – dribble 2, then turn around and just shoot pa goalllll…. Over the bar!!
      Not like @Abram.

  5. All chipolopolo haters will turn green with envy, coz we carryin the day.Too bad for Kalaba wishing him a quick recovery.let’s Go Zambia let’s Go.

  6. This shud be a blessing in disguise for the rookies,my advise for the one replacing Kalaba is take your chance and shine,Chipolopolo is not Kalaba but Kalaba is part of Zambia, one day he will b gone forever and wat happens, will Chipolopolo crumble no.We will white wash Sudan today after treating us the way they did, takin us in former rebel camps for soccer.

  7. @Strategist, point taken bro. But the problem is there seems to be no one in the mode of Kalaba, Katongo or better still like Kalusha Bwalya. We need a game changer, somebody who can rise to the occasion when chips are down. It’s only Lubambo who comes close but far from it though. Chisamba should have come for this match. However, this is an opportunity for the young ones to prove themselves. Having said that, Zambia is winning by whatever margin.

  8. I trust in Sudan and I know they ll come to Ndola and finish off the game! Of course Sudan are no strangers in Ndola as they drew in their last WC visit and I know that, they ll silence Zambia thereby breaking alot of hearts!!

They picked a a rare win Sudan and all of a sudden, they are GIANTS rubbishing even countries that have put AFRICA in the world footballing map!

The ONE, GOD GIVEN, FLUKE CUP DOESNT MAKE U A GIANTT

  9. @gadafi u are making noise, we wil beat sudan today & qualify to de next round. wait 4 comoros u wil be shocked it wil be 1-1 in kumasi & u wil be kicked out on away goal rule.

  10. This is a problem that any coach can face at any given time.In factnit is not a problem. It is just a situation. After all Zambia must learn to play without one of its regulars……be it Kalaba or whoever. If they do then you have a team and I am sorry to say I can’t mention the opposite. It is not

This situation is not about Kalusha…..not at all.The report about Kalaba’s situation has been given and it does not mention Kalusha.

Instead of finger pointing and expressing all the negatives Chipolopolo fans must be positive. You can at least suggest the possible replacement that is if the team’s shape and strategy will remain the same…….but knowing how coaching is from my little experience George is most likely going to present another monkey ( tricky strategy) to the Sudanese bearing in mind that they will come with an analytical approach to counter him from finishing the job based on the what he threw to them in Sudan.

Above all fans must be weary of destroying new talent with their negative comments. What you write here can break or build a player. Imagine representing a country for the first time in the background of the expressions that suggest that you are useless or anything like that…..on one side the coach pushes you in because he knows your capabilities ….. players are not all strong to survive such situations. They need your support.

  11. @Paddy …that comment is quite encouraging. Some players will smile into the field knowing they have the support out there. I am positive another player that would give Zambia another dimension they need is discovered in the absence of the other dimension providers.

  12. Quick recovery our Captain (R.Kalaba). Go Zambia Go…don’t 4get dat we 1nc conqured Africa with team that was considered under dog. Chipolopolo

  13. Sudan is falling, like I predicted this time it will be 4-0 come 3pm CAT amin will have an excuse NSS (Na Seka Saan)My all time best IX 1.Manix,2.Elijah Tana, 3.Eston (Yellowman) Mulenga. 4.Stopila Sunzu, 5. Harrison (Wawa) Chongo, 6. Johnstone (One Man Commando) Bwalya, 7. Lubambo Musonda, 8.Charles Musonda, 9.Godfrey Ucer Chitalu, 10.Kalaba , 11. Kalusha (Kalu)Bwalya
Sub: Nyambe Mulenga, Elija Litana, Moses Chikwalakwa, Andrew Sinkala, Eford Chabala, Isaac Chansa, Sate Sate

That’s my opinion! Go Zambia Go

  14. Wish Kalaba a quick recovery, we know what he is capable of doing in any game even when he is off form. Having said that, lately it feels like Kalaba”s creativity has been drawn off a bit from him after been placed in that left wing position. Unlike the Intial free role he was best known for when Chris could often times track up to occupy the left wing position.

  15. SORY TO YOU MR CAPTAIN BUT BIG UP TO COACH EVANS A GUD REPLACEMENT USE 4 3 1 2 THEN PUT MBESUMA AND KANGWA ON TOP AND STRONG KALENGO BEHIND THE TWO

  16. Kalaba for me he has not performed well for national team. Without him they lads will do better. Kalaba for me it’s just a name chabe not bola.

  17. Spencer Sautu is the perfect replacement for Kalaba. He could just be the revelation we have been looking for in the midfield. Go Zambia go.

  18. We wait for the Coach to decide but the Master will still give morale from the bench. Sautu did a gud job when he came I against Mozambique. The number 11 also changed the game. ……..it must Mwewa……we will carry the day.

  19. Quick recovery Kalaba! We carry a 1-0 aggregate. Pressure will be on Sudan. Our game is attacking football. Its good, the possible replace to Kalaba is to push Lumbabo into holding position. Kalaba has not impressed in recent games Zambia should settle after a goal.

  20. I think sautu will b perfect,we need 2 go 2 da group stages nice 2 c ba abram regainin optimistic energy not lyonse with 20 negative comments per topic. Nice one bra….

  21. I expect a tough game today.the absence of kalaba will cause mbesuma to concentrate in the mid field thus dropping deep .unless if musonda can be brought in the mid field the kangwa takes the right frank.Malama to start ahead of chongo or katebe to start ahead of malama and chongo otherwise the same team that played sudan need to be maintained but no defending throughout.for now all the best boys
