Nkwazi FC have intensified their preparations for the 2026 Zambian Transition League after relocating to the Copperbelt Province for a 10-day pre-season training camp aimed at sharpening the squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Lusaka-based side travelled north on Saturday as head coach Masauso Tembo oversees the next phase of preparations, with the camp focusing on physical conditioning, tactical development, team cohesion and match readiness.
The camp also includes a series of friendly matches, giving the technical bench an opportunity to assess players in competitive situations while building fitness before the season begins.
Tembo believes the camp will provide the ideal platform for Nkwazi to establish the foundations needed for a successful campaign.
“This camp is an important part of our preparations for the Transition League. It gives us the opportunity to work closely with the players in a focused environment, improve our fitness levels, and continue building the identity and mentality we want as a team,” Tembo said.
“The friendly matches will also be important in helping us evaluate our progress and ensure the players are ready for the demands of the new season.”
The Copperbelt programme forms part of an increasingly demanding pre-season schedule for the “High Flying Nkwazi”, who are also set to participate in a four-team Service pre-season tournament in Lusaka later this month.
The tournament will feature fellow Transition League side Green Buffaloes, ZPL Men’s National League outfit FC Leopards and FAZ Central Province Division One side Immig FC, offering Nkwazi another opportunity to fine-tune their preparations before competitive action begins.
The 2026 Transition League will see clubs divided into two streams, with Nkwazi competing in the Even Positions Stream alongside ABSA Cup holders Red Arrows, Kabwe Warriors, Green Eagles, Mufulira Wanderers, ZESCO United, Green Buffaloes, Mutondo Stars, Chirundu United and Roan United.
With an intensive training block, competitive friendlies and a pre-season tournament still to come, Nkwazi are seeking to enter the Transition League in peak condition as they aim to challenge some of Zambia’s most established clubs in the revamped competition.
