Record 13 time MTN Super League Champions, Nkana FC made an impressive start to their Botswana pre-season programme with a 5-1 victory over Tutume Rangers FC in Francistown on Sunday morning.
Elijah Tana named a strong starting XI, with Chiluba Musonda in goal behind a back four of Michael Chapota, Francis Debra, Clivert Mwamba and Leonard Makonga.
Charles Zulu, Gift Msiska, Abel Kanyamuna and Jackson Kampamba lined up in midfield, while Francis Bubu Mutalange partnered Lazarous Kambole in attack.
Kalampa settled quickly and took control of proceedings, racing into a two-goal lead during an entertaining opening half. Tutume Rangers pulled one back to reduce the deficit, but Nkana responded before the interval to restore their two-goal cushion and head into the break leading 3-1.
Charles Zulu opened the scoring before Lazarous Kambole doubled the advantage. After the hosts found the net through Keabetswe Mpitse, Gift Msiska restored Nkana’s commanding lead with the visitors’ third goal before half-time.
The second half continued similarly as Kalampa controlled possession and created further opportunities in the final third.
Leonard Makonga added Nkana’s fourth goal before Jackson Kampamba completed the scoring to seal a convincing 5-1 victory in the club’s opening pre-season friendly in Botswana.
The result provided an encouraging start to Nkana’s preparations as the technical bench continued assessing combinations and building fitness ahead of the new season.
