NINETY MINUTES SHIFT FOR MUSONDA, AS ŚLĄSK SECURE 2-NIL VICTORY

Zambia’s export to Poland, Lubambo Musonda, played a full 90 minutes as Śląsk’s secured victory in Saturday evening’s encounter of the Ekstraklasa at Podbeskidzie.

Musonda returned to the starting lineup, having watched from the bench as his teammates suffered a 3-2 edge at Lechia Gdansk in their previous match.

The speedy Zambian International was handed defensive duties in a right-back role as the manager, Vitezslav Lavička looked to collect maximum points.

The former Power Dynamos player impressed at right back to help Śląsk secure their first away-victory in many attempts with a clean sheet. Goals from Robert Pich and Marcel Zylla in each half respectively were enough to hand Śląsk a 2-nil victory at Podbeskidzie.

The result moves Śląsk to 5th position on the Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa with 17 points out of 11 matches played (at broadcast time). They are 5 points behind the log leaders, Legia Warsawa, who have a game in-hand.

When interviewed in a post-match interview, Musonda had this to say, “It was a very important game for the team, looking at the past results, we had gone down a little. This is a motivation (the victory) and starts of good results to come. Everybody fought on the pitch. It was a great game, of course in poor conditions (weather) but we managed to win. And obviously away, it’s a plus to us. The opponents came at us, but we were disciplined at the back, in the midfield, and upfront. Everyone was marking and putting in 100%. It really worked for the team and hope we can get to the top. Everyone was determined on the pitch and knew what they were supposed to do. Everybody gave it their best.”

Next for Musonda and team will be a home fixture against second-placed Rakow on 5. 12. 2020.
