Nchanga Rangers complete triple attacking swoop ahead of new MTN Super League season

MTN Super League side Nchanga Rangers have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Andrew Phiri, Kouassi Koffi Igor and Timothy Mulopwe on long-term contracts as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign gather pace.

The Chingola-based club confirmed on Thursday that Ivorian attacking midfielder Kouassi and striker Phiri have joined as free agents, while highly-rated winger Mulopwe arrives on a permanent transfer from FAZ North Western Province Division One side Mushitala Football Club.

Kouassi joins Rangers after an impressive spell with Togolese club Gomido FC, where he contributed five goals and nine assists. The creative midfielder is expected to provide invention and attacking impetus as Rangers look to strengthen their final-third quality.

Phiri returns to Zambian football following spells with Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars and Zimbabwe’s Hardrock FC. The experienced striker scored four goals during his most recent campaign and is expected to add leadership, experience and a clinical edge to the Rangers frontline.

Meanwhile, Mulopwe arrives as one of Zambia’s emerging talents after scoring 15 goals for Mushitala FC. His performances during the 2026 National League Playoffs caught the attention of the Rangers technical bench, earning the winger a move to the two-time Zambian champions.

Nchanga Rangers president Eng. David Mukumbuta Mukelabai believes the trio will strengthen the club’s ambitions for the new season.

“We believe they will add the firepower, creativity, and quality needed to strengthen our attacking force as we pursue our objectives this season,” Mukelabai said.
