Rescheduled MTN Super League Week 15 and 17 fixtures delivered drama on Wednesday afternoon, with Nchanga Rangers continuing their impressive rise and Mufulira Wanderers rediscovering their winning touch at home.
In Kabwe, Nchanga Rangers moved up to third place on 29 points after edging Kabwe Warriors 1-0 at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium. Abraham Kanyangala proved the difference, scoring the decisive goal in the 72nd minute to seal a historic victory.
The result marked Nchanga Rangers’ first away win in Kabwe since 2011, underlining their growing confidence and maturity this season. The Brave Boys are now unbeaten in six league matches, a run that has firmly placed them among the early title contenders.
For Kabwe Warriors, it was another frustrating afternoon. The defeat sees them drop to seventh place, extending a poor run of form that has yielded just one point from their last four games.
Meanwhile in Mufulira, Mufulira Wanderers bounced back from consecutive defeats with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Green Buffaloes at Shinde Stadium.
An electric start saw Joseph Tumbwe open the scoring inside two minutes, before Paul Tembo doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, giving the hosts early control of the contest. Although Martin Njobvu pulled one back late on for Green Buffaloes, scoring in the 84th minute, Wanderers held firm to secure maximum points.
The win provided a timely boost for the nine-time champions, while Green Buffaloes were left to rue missed opportunities despite a spirited second-half response.
