Natasha Nanyangwe braces Buffaloes to victory and second place

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club have continued their dominance and good form as they thrashed Trident Queens 5-1 away in Kalumbila.

The FAZ Women’s National Division defending Champions traveled to Kalumbila on Wednesday for their rescheduled week 3 encounter.

With coach Charles Haalubono and coach Beauty Mwamba still out in Tanzania attending a CAF A coaching license course, Coach Lubinda continued to sit in as interim head coach.

And after back to back wins over Green Eagles and Red Arrows the Zambia army sponsored outfit were eager to make it six wins in a row.

In-form Natasha Nanyangwe who scored a beauty of a goal against Arrows over the weekend opened the scoring just after two minutes.

Nanyangwe doubled the lead in the 26th minute before Maweta Chilenga could make it 3-0. The teams went to the break with Buffaloes carrying a comfortable 3-0 lead.

In the second half Trident Queens came back a more determined side and became the first team to score against Green Buffaloes this season as Matildah Choonga’s free kick went past Aisha Mbwana.

Buffaloes were however not done as Esther Siamfuko forced an own goal from Alice Nambeya in the 90th minute before Ireen Lungu could return to the scoresheet with an added time goal.

The win takes Buffaloes to second on the log with 18 points, six behind log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls who have played two games more.
