By Moses Pedro Mwanza

Copper Queens forward Rachel Nachula on Thursday night opened her goal scoring account in Israel.

Nachula scored a hattrick for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem who thrashed Ramat Hasharon 8-0 away from home in a match day 2 of the 2023 Athena Women’s Cup Group A encounter.

Nachula, who was playing her second game for Katamon, put up an impressive shift and announced her presence in Israel with a stellar performance scoring three goals in the first half.

The Zambian forward opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute before captain of the side Racheal Steinschneider added the second goal in the 17th minute and afterwards it started raining goals.

Dat Halil added a third goal in the 35th minute before Nachula grabbed her brace three minutes later and Feliciano Flavia Giovanna found the back of the net in the 42nd minute and yet again Nachula completed her hattrick at the stroke of halftime scoring a sixth goal for Katamon in the opening half.

In the second half, Katamon scored through Shalom Healy in the 77th and 10 minutes later, Cohen Smeder added the cherry and icing on the cake with an eighth goal of the evening in Ramat.

This result means Katamon and Raanana who edged Hadera 2-0 in the other Group A match have advanced to the semi-finals of the Athena Women’s Cup with a game to spare with 6 points from two games played going into last games on Monday, 21st August, 2023.
