Rachel Nachula became the oldest player to score a goal at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations ( WAFCON) at 40 years, 195 days when she scored the opener against Egypt.
She takes over from Nigerian great, a five time WAFCON winner, Perpetua Nkwocha who scored at 38 years, 284 days vs Zambia, on 14th October 2014.
Nachula featured at left back despite being right footed in impressed in her new role.
Copper Queens coach Nora Hauptle converted the veteran from a winger to a full back.
In Zambia’s Wafcon 2026 opening match against Egypt, Nachula opened the scores in the 24th minute with a well taken penalty.
Zambia went on to win 6-0.
Attention for the Copper Queens will now turn to Saturday’s mouthwering encounter against holders Nigeria
A defeat for the Super Falcons will see them bow out of the tournament following Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Malawi.
