Mwikisa hits brace to lead Mozambique top scorers chart

Lineker Mwiikisa bagged a brace as Costa Do Sol returned joint top of the Mocambola with a 2-2 draw away at Dario Monteros Desportivo.

Mwikisa scored the first goal after outpacing a defender from the centre line and unleashed a cracker from the outside of the box which nestled nicely into the net.

The second was a Mwiikisa special that saw the on-loan Green Buffaloes forward lob the keeper with a delicious chip that was fit for human consumption.

Mwiikisa is now the joint league top scorer on seven goals despite joining Do Sol in the second half of the season.

Three teams sit on 40 points at the top of the Mocambola League with two matches left to play.

Celebrated Wedson Nyirenda’s Ferroviario de Beira are in fourth position on 38 points and still with a chance to claim the championship too.

  1. This is a very weak league if this guy can shine and be scoring braces. The Zambiian league was too big for him. Even juckson mwanza can be scoring braces in this Mozambiquean league..

  2. the above mentioned statements about mozambique is untrue.last time they qualified for chan tournament and gave nigeria a torrid time. zambia failed

  4. The League in Mozambique is well funded and if you’re a keen follower of their football then you will know about the great players they have exported to the likes of Europe like Mexer. Look at even how Sonito a former Mocambola hit man is performing in the Girabola at Bravos.

Lineker Mwiikisa is a proven goal scorer and he proved it at Black Aces in RSA, GBFC and Choma Green Eagles in Zambia and now doing the same in Mozambique. Give the man the credit he deserves.

    • At black aces Mwikisa failed that’s why he was released stop misleading other us. At the time mwikisa and Lottie phiri were @ aces the team was based in j’burg and I used to watch their games.

  5. @UNDEFEATED GORO, let me ask you..what do you want Zambian players to do then? they cant go to Europe because they simply not on that level, and you want to criticize them for playing local leagues..what do you want them to do???Stop play soccer altogether because the league is useless?..if that happens then ii guess zambia will not be going anywhere since you encourage your players not to play weak leagues but at the same time they cant make competitive leagues..WORD TO THE WISE..you need to crawl before you walk

  6. Its good zambian players are ticking in every league across the globe.Zambia is a power house and its good for our players fitness than warming benches in Europe.

  7. It is a weak league just like the ZPL where a top scorer has not scored up to 25 goals. When was the last time a striker in the ZPL scored 30 goals?Thats the more reason Zambia struggle when playing with Mozambique,Botswana and even Swaziland.

  8. The ZPL has been weak for sometime especially in the last five years. Faz r devoid of solutions. Football house is a mere waiting house! Waiting for Great Kalu the President to spell out his vision! The other day he was boasting that the organisation and admin of our football is the envy of neighbouring countries. And that our football has improved and is shown on TV. This fellow is out of touch with reality!

  9. Sometimes it takes motivatin and a few facilities and a player hits top level. If our memory can serve us right ,we have had players making it big in the PSL and other foreign leagues when they relatively struggled to register their grades in the Zambian league . Traditionally,Zambians love to see players who have had a good career locally to be selected to the national team than those reaching their peak in foreign leagues but struggled when they played locally. We traditionally make a strong squad drawing from the locals with only few foreign players fused in .
