Mwepu wins goal of the season at Albion players awards

Chipolopolo captain Enock Mwepu walked away with the Men’s Goal of the Season award, at the Brighton and Hove Albion Players’ Awards 2022, sponsored by American Express, at the Amex on Monday.

Mwepu’s stunning strike against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw at Anfield last October was voted as the goal of the year.

The Computer told the club’s official website that he always dreamed of scoring in the English Premier League and scoring at Anfield was just beautiful.

“I always dreamed of scoring in the Premier League and to score it at Anfield was a beautiful moment – and I definitely meant it,” he said.

Spanish defender, Marc Cucurella was the big winner as he was named both Men’s Player of the Season, sponsored by American Express, and Players’ Player of the Season, sponsored by SnickersUK.com, at the glittering ceremony at the Amex, which was attended by 400 players, guests and sponsors.

The Men’s Young Player of the Season, sponsored by SYH Properties, went to Jeremy Sarmiento and Maya Le Tissier.

Chairman’s Award: Tim Dudding. Tim has worked for the club for 20 years and is the club’s Production Manager.

Albion in the Community Award sponsored by Gap Solutions: Gabriel Attard. Gabriel continues to benefit the work of AITC despite suffering from a stroke last year. Gabriel attends the club’s disability football sessions and represents one of their disability teams in goal.

Sarah Watts Inspiration Award sponsored by Tan’s Tasty Cakes: Paul Young, Off The Fence. Paul has been CEO of Off The Fence, a charity for the homeless which has been helping people in the Brighton & Hove community for 25 years. Paul organized the Big Sleep last year which was supported by Graham Potter, Billy Reid, and Bruno.
