Mwepu master class – Zambian midfielder assists in Brighton and Hove Albion win

Chipolopolo midfield ace Enock Mwepu put in a brilliant shift for Brighton and Hove Albion helping them to a 2-0 Boxing Day win over Brentford.

The former Redbull Salzburg man started in the middle of the park alongside Jakub Moder with Adam Lallana playing above them.

Mwepu then produced a masterpiece, setting up Leandro Trossard for the opening goal in the 36th minute.

The Zambian midfield ace played a brilliant ball long pass behind the Brentford defense for the Belgian to chase, Trossard timed his run and easily lobbed it over Álvaro Fernández’s head, 1-0.

Neal Maupay made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute with a fine strike after being teed up by Jakub Moder.

The second half was a more balanced affair as Brentford came close but Spanish goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez made some top saves to make sure the Seagulls walked away with 3 points.

The win means Graham Potters men put an end to a 12 match winless run and sends the Seagulls to 9th place with 23 points.

In Scotland, Fashion Sakala Jnr was a second half substitute for FC Rangers who cruised to a 2-0 win over St Mirren to make sure they go into 2022 top of the Scottish Premiership and on the end of nine straight league victories.
