Mutapa: We expect a tough game against Vipers

Power Dynamos coach Oswald Mutapa Jnr is expecting a tough match against Vipers SC on Sunday.

Vipers and Power Dynamos will clash in Wakiso district at Kitende’s St Mary’s Stadium in the first leg of the 2nd round of the CAF Champions League.

“We expect a tough game because this is a team (Vipers) that has been doing well at home but we are equally a determined side,” Mutapa said at Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport on Thursday as the team left for Kampala.

“We need to go and get a positive result. We will play the first leg well and come and finish the job here,” Mutapa emphasised.

The Zambian Champions suffered a minor set back in the league following their 2-1 defeat to Red Arrows at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Mutapa was quick to the positives from the Arrows match.

“Yes we lost 2-1 to Red Arrows but if you look at how we played with a man down. We played like we were more. We created more more chances than Red Arrows did.

“We defend well until the last minutes when we allowed the other goal. Yes we lost but we are focused on what is at stake.

And captain of the side Aaron Katebe has described the morale in the Power Dynamos as high ahead of the Sunday Clash.

Katebe expressed optimism that the team will triumph over Vipers having prepared adequately.

“I know every game is different but we just have to go and win to make our fans proud. We have no choice but to qualify to the group stage. This is not about Power as a club but it is about Zambia.”

A week later, Power Dynamos will host the seven time Uganda Champions at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with the winner advancing to the lucrative group stage.
