NAPSA Stars head coach Perry Mutapa says qualifying for the Super League is the best feeling especially since the Eden University National Division One is not an easy League.
The Pensioners sealed their Super League promotion last Saturday following a 2-0 win away at Trident.
Mutapa opened up about the challenges the team faced in the National Division One with travelling long distances at the very top of it.
“I think it’s the best feeling, very happy, it’s not an easy league as people may portray it because it involves a lot of traveling to far places and difficulties with the pitches so after qualifying you must feel very happy,” Mutapa told the ZamFoot Crew.
“The Super League is a different competition but the most important part is planning, We will take things step by step, We sat as the technical bench to see where we are lacking and if we need reinforcements.”
“The challenges mostly are about traveling, you go to places like Mansa, we went to Solwezi three times which takes a toll on players.
” The playing surface also, Some teams don’t have good pitches so sometimes as a team we would struggle because what we would do in training was not what we would on the actual day of the game.
“It made football for us difficult because we had to have plans A, B, and C so those are the biggest challenges,” he added.
The Pensioners will face off with new Super League Champions, Red Arrows in the final of the 2022 ABSA Cup.
Mutapa believes the Airmen are the favorites but he is confident his team will put up a good fight.
“Challenges are the most important things that you should take, You need to turn the negatives into positives. Those challenges have made us stronger hence we will go back to the Premier League stronger,” he said.
“First of all congratulations to Red Arrows for winning the league, they put up a good fight and won it in style, I think they played the best football in Zambia which is very encouraging to see as a coach coming from another team.
” Coming to the final, It won’t be easy we are the underdogs but it’s a final we have to put up a good fight.
“Of course their striking force is very good but of course from the league we are coming from we have the best defense so we are going to see,” he added.
