Mutapa Frustrated by Lack of Finishing Touch

Green Eagles head coach Perry Mutapa expressed frustration over his side’s wastefulness in front of goal following their Week 28 encounter against Kabwe Warriors.

The Kawale Boys salvaged a late point in a 1–1 draw, with Simon Tonga putting the Warriors ahead in the 53rd minute before Derrick Bulaya struck in the 86th minute to rescue the hosts from defeat.

Mutapa’s men dominated much of the second half, mounting sustained pressure after going behind and coming close to snatching all three points in the closing stages.

“We grew into the game. In the first half our build-up play lacked rhythm, but we managed to correct that after the break,” Mutapa said. “Even when Warriors threatened in transition, we remained confident. The frustration is in the conversion — we created clear openings but failed to apply the finishing touch.”

The Eagles coach also criticized the visitors’ game management, accusing them of employing delaying tactics as the match wore on.

The result denied Kabwe Warriors a chance to move into fifth place on the table, while Green Eagles slipped to eighth following FC MUZA’s victory over NAPSA Stars.
