Mutapa, Chilumba front runners for pension

Struggling Napsa Stars want  either Osward Mutapa or Tenant Chilumba as their new coach, the ZamFoot Crew  understands.

According to the ZamFoot Crew sources, the new Napsa Stars executive have placed their former coach Chilumba has their first choice.

Chilumba is now in-charge of Kabwe Warriors where he has steared them into fifth on the log in contrast with Napsa Stars who are rocked on 10 points in the drop zone.

“The executive want TC [Tenant Chilumba] back,” the ZamFoot Crew insider said

In the first half of the 2017 season, Napsa played arguably one of the best football in the league under Chilumba.

With the likes of Solomon Sakala, Yoremember Banda, Chitiya Mususu, Chitoshi Mukuma, Twiza Chaibela, Collins Sikombe and Austin Banda, the pensioners found themselves in the top six halfway through the season and qualified for Barclays Cup.

That success worked against Chilumba as the team suffered a dip in form in the final third of the season and the former Chipolopolo player was sacked.

His assistant Linos Makwaza took over and guided the team to the Barclays Cup final.

With the exodus of players including Solomon, Chitiya, Chitoshi, Banda and Sikombe, the pensioners had to rebuilt.

Instead of bringing quality players, they brought a host of Real Nakonde and five games into the 2018 season, Makwaza with his assistants Harry Milanzi and Dabwitso Nkhoma were sidelined and came the veteran Elijah Chikwanda.

With Chikwanda failing to arrest the sinking ship, he has also been sacked.

“TC wants to come but the problem is that Napsa has to buy off his contract at Warriors.

Mutapa is available after he left National Assembly

“Actually remember when he was sacked, they had pay off his contract and the sponsors are still paying Makwaza and co as they are on gardening leave.

The ZamFoot Crew understands that should the board fail to get their man, then they will turn to Osward Mutapa.

“Mutapa has been on their radar for some time now. The dissolved executive actually spoke with him but the Chairman [Rich Nawa] opted for Chikwanda,” adds a ZamFoot Crew insider.

Mutapa left National Assembly  last month and is now drilling the Zambia Under-17.

The other options are Mohammed Fathu and Forest Rangers’ Perry Mutapa.

On Sunday, Donewell Yobe was in charge of the team in the 1-0 defeat to Red Arrows.

The pensioners are placed 19th on the log with 10 points.

  1. Zambian players never learn. Egypt has been a very bad destiny for our players. Who advises these boys anyway? Brian will never be the same player again.

  2. Mutapa must think twice before joining Napsa. These coaches must not just rush into signing contracts because they are jobless. They must be proud of the work they do. A proud coach will not rush into getting the job at Napsa when others have been treated badly. Management must clean its house before they engage another coach.
