Copper Queens defender Agness Musesa has been ruled out of the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championships in South Africa. Musesa suffered a nasty fall in the game against Namibia and dislocated her elbow.
Copper Queens team Doctor Faith Chibeza, Told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview that she is not expecting Musesa to be fully healed before the end of the tournament which is in about six days.
“Agnes Musesa had a bad fall during the match against Namibia, She actually landed on her Elbow. We managed to reduce it by doing what we suppose to do but during to the duration of the tournament as we are remaining with only about six days, We can not say the tissues that were damaged will be healed and she can go back to play so at this moment we are taking it that she may not be able to play any of the remaining games,” she said.
Meanwhile, Zambia takes on Botswana in the final group B encounter. Head coach for this tournament Beauty Mwamba has declared the team ready for the match.
Mwamba is expecting a tough encounter but says the team will work hard to come out victorious as they are targeting a win.
“The team is ready, I can confirm. We will miss the services of Agness Musesa who was injured in our last game. We have the same points as Botswana (6) but we have an advantage because of the 18 goals we have scored compared to the four they have managed,” She said.
We only need a draw but of course, we can’t go into the game aiming for a draw. We want to win the match so that we can finish top of the group. It’s an important match for us so that we can progress to the semifinals- Mwamba
“They are a good side and Physical. It will not be an easy game, It will be a tough game but we hope to carry the day at the end of the match.”
Zambia currently leads group B on goal difference as they have the same points (6) with Botswana. Rachel Nachula is expected to lead the attack tomorrow alongside Grace Chanda and Helen Mubanga with Mary Mwakapila as the architect in midfield.
