The football Association of Zambia(FAZ) Women’s League Lusaka Region entered Week 24 of action over the past weekend with Kafue Cranes making the biggest headline as they edged an inconsistent Nkwazi side by 4 goals to 2.
At Op Grounds in Chamba Valley Red Arrows suffered their 4th defeat of the season losing to Green Eagles in a game that could have gone either way.
Elsewhere, two games ended in draws with Yasa Queens holding National Assembly to a 1-1 draw while Pamalat and Olympic Flying Queens settled for a barren draw.
Here is a Round-Up of Week 24 Lusaka Region Matches:
KAFUE CRANES 4- 2 NKWAZI QUEENS ( Tisi Lungu x2, Margaret Chilekwa, Lydia Hamaninga|Siyomala Mapepe x2)
Kafue Cranes recorded a remarkable 5-2 home victory over High Flying Nkwazi at Naboye Secondary School grounds in a game a lot of people could have never thought the Police sponsored Outfit would drop points.
However, it was Tisi Lungu who stole the show for the home team as she netted her second brace in two games with Margaret Chilekwa, Lydia Hamaninga and Clara Ngoma also contributing a goal each for the Coach Zizwachi Msteteka’s side who have recored back to back wins in their last 2 games.
The Police Sponsored Outfit found the back of the net through their danger woman Siyomala Mapepe who also had a brace in this game.
RED ARROWS 1 – 2 GREEN EAGLES (Maiwase Square | Amira Njobvu, Racheal Moono)
Red Arrows women football club on Saturday, August 3, suffered their 4th defeat of the season after going down 2-1 at home to Green Eagles who have proved so difficult to beat having won 2 of their last 3 matches.
Two First-half goals from Amira Njobvu and Reachel Moono strike were all that the Coach Kayombo drilled side needed to condemn the Air Women to a loss in a game that was characterized by questionable decisions made by the referee and the Arrows technical bench wasn’t too happy with some calls from the referee.

Both teams had an equal share of chances but the home side could have done better through their taliswoman Prisca Chilufya And Mulai Wilombe who were very hard working upfront but unlucky in front of goal.
Chilufya had a goal disallowed and was given as a foul on the edge of the box for infringement on her as the referee decided to blow the whistle instead of playing advantage.
The Eagles stood their feet with the likes of Dorcus Seya, Sibanda, Rosemary Cheelo at the back made sure that they never gave Arrows chance to equalize.
Maiwase Square who was later substituted in the second scored for Red Arrows.
It is back to the drawing board for the Air Women who have another tricky fixture this weekend in Week 25 away to Stubborn Yasa in Hellen Kaunda.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 1 – 1 YASA QUEENS(Norin Betani |Christine Nyirongo)
Miller Grounds in Lilayi hosted a mouthwatering encounter between two of the most stubborn teams in the Lusaka Region as National Assembly welcomed Yasa Queens.
Going into this fixture there was a lot that was expected considering the fact that it was the Parliamentarians who ended the Coach Mevis Nachinga’s side unbeaten run in the first round so it was revenge for Yasa or history repeating itself in favor of the Coach Kutayaya tutored side.
Christine Nyirongo had put the away side in the Lead before Norin Betani equalized for the Parliamentarians who had a tough time coming up against a determined Yasa side.
But after all, was done and dusted, it was the second draw in a row for Yasa while Assembly was a more disappointing side especially dropping points when they could have been closing in the gap with log leaders Green Buffaloes who are resting owing to most of their players being on national team duty.
PARMALAT 0 – 0 OLYMPIC FLYING QUEENS
This was a fair result in an entertaining game where both sides fought and gave each other a tough time but nothing much to write home about as they shared spoils.
