Musekwa, Sautu called for Egypt and Mozambique games

Zambia national football team coach George Lwandamina has named a provisional squad of 25 locally based players for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Mozambique on October 17.

The list includes foreign based players (including Chisamba Lungu) who will join the squad for an international friendly match scheduled for October 11 against Egypt.

Zambia will host Mozambique in the first round first leg at Mwanawasa Stadium on October 17 before traveling to Maputo for the second leg a week later.

  1. Our only headache is midfield and defense. Who could command the midfield? Its time to replace Isaac Chansa. Is Chansa irreplaceable or what. We need a player who could play box to box. Kalaba is not influential to stamp the authority. Another wasted talent is that of Mukuka Mulenga. Maybe he could have stayed in Zambian league for another year or so. In defense Sunzu is another suspect making mistakes in dangerous areas. We need the likes of Joseph Musonda to consolidate our defense.

    • I think the coach has still got it wrong, I am telling you we need kabaso chongo, katebe Aaron, isaac chansa and joseph musonda, don’t rely on stoppila sunzu, to me he is no longer dependeable, he is a suspect, nganimuli last game talemoneke nokumoneka, the coach should call the players that I have mentioned, kulabeba fye nomba ba coach tabeshibe ifyo balecita

  2. Those of you mentioning Isaac Chansa and Joseph Musonda, have you seen the two in action?? Muletambako bola..

  3. Where and when exactly did you see Isaac Chansa and Joseph Musonda play football this year naimwe.. Kabaso Chongo ninshi sumutamba ma blunder???

  4. thanks ba great kalu, faz and ba chicken george for including the fc ural captain chisambadino becoz he has improved, he is enjoing game time in Russian.

  5. lets 4gets about old legs we hv sinkala, chisambadinho and up coming players from u-23′ u-20 and u-17 to play box to box midfield. wishg zambia all the best.

  6. Let boy Sautu gain experience just in 3 international matches , you will forget about Isaac Chansa, watch out for Sautu or take keen interest in the young lad. The boy is good jealous down yama.

  7. Good selection Chicken, but what we need are versatile wingers and strong holding midfielders able to contain the opposition onslaught. We also need man to man marking defenders, hard tacklers.

  8. I feel Musakanya,Mukandawile,Mfune and Friday Samu should have not been included in the local team instead Lazarus Kambole,Laurence Chungu,Moses Phiri and fackson Kapumbo shold have been in the team these guys are playing very well in the local league.we should be serious when assembling our team this is not the time for experiments

  9. @The Great. At what age and stage do you want Joseph Musonda to retire at National level? Come on the guy has served the country well and he needs to hand on the button to the young boys. Same with Isaac his ability to influence a game is over.

  10. These players J . Musonda and I.Chansa are the ones in the local league who command system in the field of play better than those highly praised young players . You don’t have to say if someone is over 35 then is finished, remember the guys like Joseph, Isaac, Chris etc played a big role in 2012 Afcon triumph. If someone is energetic, skilful and he is used at his club call him . That is why failed to pass through group stages at last Afcon, they were too many young and inexperienced players. Do not follow other nations who are depending entirely on young players it is because the veterans can not make difference. Bravo George on calling of D.Musekwa is good.

  11. Patson and Musakanya hv never impressed me at all they r jst overrated 4 nothin. They POTENTIALS tht will never reach thr POTENTIAL despite being given opportunities.

  12. Call the young players to the U20 squad like Patson Daka, the boy doesn’t play at power. Please time for experimenting is gone let’s make a solid squad couches George to be precise you know the performing players in the legue like Kapumbu from ZANACo the guy has improved even set pieces he’s a good taker.
