Mulwanda kicks off U20 AFCON preps with 38 member provisional squad

The Zambia Under-20 Men’s National Team has kicked off preparations for the Coted’Ivoire 2025 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations with Coach Boyd Mulwanda naming a 38-member provisional squad that enters camp today.

Mulwanda has retained the bulk of players that qualified the team for the tournament which runs from April 26 to May 18 in Coted’Ivoire with some newbies roped in as he hopes to assemble a competitive side.

Local players regroup in Lusaka with Mulwanda keeping tabs on some foreign based players that are expected to join in the final stages of preparations for the tournament.

Zambia is in Group C alongside Senegal, Kenya and Sierra Leone.

With Zambia qualifying for five Africa cup tournaments, FAZ has tasked the various technical benches to ensure that the assignments are more than just participatory.

Zambia has qualified for the AFCON, WAFCON, Chan, U17 and U20 continental tournaments making one of the busiest years for national teams.

Additionally, the under-17 and 20 women are participating in FIFA World Cup qualifiers which could add to the pleasantly bloated list of teams participating in international events.
