Mufulira Wanderers Part Ways with Coach Tenant Chilumba

Mufulira Wanderers Football Club has announced the mutual separation with Head Coach Tenant Chilumba, effective June 13, 2025.

The decision comes after a series of internal discussions and consultations with Chilumba’s agent, Nawa Nyambe.

During his eight-month tenure, Chilumba, who joined the club in October 2024, made a notable impact.

However, the club has decided to move forward, citing the need for a new head coach who aligns with their long-term vision and development strategy.

Chilumba was named Mufulira Wanderers head coach in October last year taking over from Charles Kafula and penning a two year deal.

Speculation of ZESCO United Return

Chilumba’s departure has sparked speculation about his future, with rumors linking him to a potential return to ZESCO United as head coach.

Insiders suggest that Chilumba, who had previously worked with the Ndola-based club, may be poised to take the reins once again.

Chilumba was George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina’s assistant at ZESCO United but was let go together with Chicken in August 2024 after a poor showing in the CAF Confederation Cup.

New Chapter for Mufulira Wanderers

Mufulira Wanderers’ board has expressed gratitude to Chilumba for his contributions and wishes him well in his future endeavors.

The club is now focused on identifying a new head coach who can drive the team forward and achieve success.

“We thank Coach Chilumba for his service and dedication to the club,” said a Mufulira Wanderers spokesperson. “We wish him all the best and look forward to finding a new coach who shares our vision.”

The search for a new head coach is already underway, with the club determined to find the right person to lead the team to success.
